That's the stuff, Bt-i targets most double winged flies.
Other varieties are mostly for outdoor, different bugs.
  • Bt israelensis takes out insects of the order diptera (two-winged “true flies”). The israelensis strain has been instrumental in fighting mosquitoes, black flies, and fungus gnat larvae.
  • Bt aizawai targets lepidoptera (butterflies and moths). This strain is used in honeycombs to fight off wax moth larvae.
  • Bt kurstaki is another lepidoptera fighter. It hones in on the population of gypsy moth, hornworm, cabbage worm or cabbage looper, tent caterpillar, spruce budworm, and many other common leaf-eating caterpillars and vegetable pests.
  • Bt san diego and Bt tenebrionis will take out certain coleoptera (beetles). These types come into play when battling the elm leaf beetle and Colorado potato beetle on potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, or elms.
  • Bacillus popilliae kills off Japanese beetles with milky spore disease. It was the first botanical Bt product developed for commercial use.
How do you use this?? Seems like this is for huge amounts of water lolol

I just received some from Amazon today. Is it just a water solution ration and water it in??

This stuff is not going to leach into the plant and be smoked right? Haha I would assume not considering it’s being posted in the organic section haha

Prepare the solution and soak your pots, repeat 3 times 3 days apart. Kill fliers with sticky traps and/or doktor doom foggers if in veg, be sure to top your soil with sand. No it will not hurt when smoked and BT is a soil bacteria, the very essence of organic.

Put strips of duct tape down on the soil grow tobacco plants in the tent. They are very sticky and collect alot of bugs.
This is a fun thought

Thanks to both!

I learned to live with my gnats and granted them mercy and land to build their homes on. In response, they built a temple dedicated to me in one of my pots and now call me "your grace". They have selected a queen and only she is allowed to lay eggs. We thought about marriage but the male gnats were fully against it, especially the qeensguard. I can understand why.

I make sure to keep my pots extra moist and in return they refrain from flying into my ears, nose, eyes and mouth while I work. I know they are happy because they have laid out umbrellas and chairs next to their swimming pools. Many have fallen into heavy boozing and must be incarcerated from time to time but overall they are behaving rather well.

I shall soon write a best selling book called "How to live with and learn to love fungus gnats". It should fly off the bookshelves quickly

Excuse the ignorance as I’m so unfamiliar w this stuff but I have ZERO idea how to “prepare the solution” with this stuff. The directions state nothing apart from like 2ml in 2 THOUSAND gallons of water lmaaaaao!

Can you help a fellow growmie out here?? Lol

That’s the rate for mosquitoes like for ponds

fungus gnat apply microbelife bmc (BTI) at .5ml-1ml per gallon every 7-14 days if infection high every 3-4 days . Key is to 100% saturation of medium . If u have a drain tray let the plant soak the runoff for a few minutes

key is airflow onto top of medium to deter adults , yellow traps to capture adults and also to know how bad ur pressures are . If ur populations get bad if indoors/closed loop greenhouse get rove beetles for adult fungus gnats or h miles if greenhouse/outdoors . I realize organics/no till it won’t ever be 109% dry but u can def deter them by having nice layers of straw ontop and let the medium have times of drying points . Point is u can def deter/control for FG by knowing u need to not over water and watching ur pest pressure and also knowing by time u see fliers the life cycle is high . I let my roves and h miles and misc have a nice home so therefore after A few rounds I noitce my traps even outdoors don’t ever get bad. those predators and ecosystem def will make FG their food and for years I def didn’t think it was possible To say that .

if ur really getting high pressures/populations of FG I suggest using the 1ml higher dosage of liquid BTI every watering for 2-4 times just remeber the adults are not being killed by BTI alone , than 3-7 days .5ml per gallon, once u see low populations go to 7-14 days at .5ml ( key is watching ur pest pressure ) . nematodes work great too for the babies but for everyday control I use liquid BTI (microbe life bmc) . The 1 gallon version is way cheaper but expire date is 12 months from day u open it, all anout how big ur grow is . The mosquito Bits even thou same species is only 6 months and if u do cost per dosages the liquid version def a better deal but also liquid is 8% BTI vs 4% (bits)
