Leaf damage? Dtw coco

Enough to get some runoff not in a flushing manner. Just to do its job.
3.0 ec runoff. Ec121 I think is their name, they really helped a lot talking about check runoff ec, its solved the issue half the time. I know what that means lol shes cookin in salts!

Feed more often if not work get a bucket feed them seperate lower ec.
Your EC is a full point above inflow.

Typically the steps to lower runoff EC in high-frequency coco fertigation is like this:

1 - increase the number of fertigation events
2 - keep fertigation events the same but increase the amount of runoff at each event
3 - lower inflow EC

If number 1 doesn't lower the EC (or it isn't practical to increase the number of fertigation events), then number 2 should be applied. If number 2 doesn't lower EC, then number 3 should be applied.

In your case, though, you're a full point above inflow. While a flushing agent will flush out the salts quickly with less work, generally it's best to just flush with your normal feed until the runoff reads the same as the inflow number and then resume your normal fertigating using #2 to keep the issue corrected.

If that is going to take too much feed (usually 3-5x the volume of the pot), then you can do it with half the EC of your normal feed and that will bring it down with far less volume.

Being that your plants don't look terrible, then you can just increase the runoff substantially and it should lower down in a few days. Just be prepared to do a feed flush if it gets worse instead.

Awesome! Thanks for the detailed response, no questions. Yea I remembered your name correctly, ec121 giving ec 101 advice lol. Youve helped a lot, thanks!

I already upped from 4x to 8x a day, matching the rest if the garden in case that still works as its not horribly smaller than one gallon being a one litre pot.

Have you ever grown coco dtw in a solo cup? Its hell lol I think drop that sound was implying it still gets toxic even with low ec like .8 ec. Im at 1.8-1.9ec.

Ive added more runoff too I just didnt care for this tent or clones it was to learn bubble but became more significant than that. Its to find new genetics, I just got porto leche and banana candy krush, Im beyond stoked to run them in this lovely tent!

So need to up my bonsai flower plant game.

I've done coco dtw in a solo.

Just because your runoff EC comes out the same doesn't mean there isn't still toxic levels of buildup in contact with the roots. You could pump nutrient solution through the medium all day long and it could still be there.

The agent will help dissolve it so it can actually be flushed out on the next feed.

Ok if it dont effect the cation exchange sites I have no concerns. Yea thats great info thanks I forgot you said that even though I quoted some of that earlier. Im seeing it differently now. Ill buy some.

What was your ec and frequency? Im dying to ask those questions to others that done it ever since I done mine.

Mine was 1.1 ec 4x a day I tweaked the frequency a little hopelessly trying to stop it from tanking.
I could only guess as I don’t see any posts noting the feed level. This plant same auto seeds was being fed 1.0 EC so I can only guess the solo was probably the same.

IMHO they look like they are experiencing lockout.

I think one of the things to consider is changing your water source or filtering it. 500 random ppm in your tap water is not helping you dial in a feed level. Unless you got a water report and I missed it among your posts, then you have no idea what is actually in your water.
Its basically calcium and magnesium some sodium carbonate I forget its really nothing concerning last I checked.

I decided I would as a last resort as loading the reservoir as is is real convenient. Having filtered would make it crazy hard. I refill 54 gallons every 3 days with like 10 gallona left when filling.

Id do it if I had to I just dont know how Id do it. Roommates had enough of grow inconvenienting them space wise and in general.

I'd be interested in any information you can link (not furnished by a nutrient line) that states chemical flushing agents are the only way to get rid of a buildup.

Toxic buildup is salt that has crystalized out of solution. Water will dissolve salt crystals because salt is water soluble; it's just going to take a shitload to do it because it has crystalized.

The agent will help dissolve it so it can actually be flushed out on the next feed.
And therein lies the benefit of Flora Kleen, imo. It's just easier because all you have to do is saturate the medium and the chemicals break up the salts, rather than flushing high volumes to break up the salts.

Excess calcium can easily antagonize other nutrients and prevent nutrient uptake. That is one of the easiest ways to get lockout.

It was happening very frequently to growers when people first started to use leds. Everyone thought they “need more cal-mag” but really they needed higher temps to all proper transpiration and respiration of the plants. That allowed the existing nutrient to become available.

see all those red lines connected to calcium specifically. Those are all nutrients that can be locked out with excess calcium. Phosphorus is another one that people ramp up during flower but too much of can lockout other nutrients.

Yea I never learned how to read that I have it saved though. I should find a video or read on it I just never thought I was ever locked out. How can you get lock out from a one part solution?

I heard the calcium is usually a different form not readily available to plants, can they still lock out other nutrients?

Idk if it was cal or mag or both but my water report said it was a calcium carbonate or magnesium of the similar. I can find out exactly, theyre readily available online.

Also heard maxibloom dont have enough calcium and I indeed get bright orange spots here and there even when happy.

Whats an acceptable calmag ec range in starting water? In my case its like .2ec for cal .2ec mag.

And thanks for the detailed response, it really helps me understand why I should be going a different route. Especially if its more difficult for whatever reason.

I havent been told I had lockout since I quit following coco for cannabis feed guide when first starting. I was adding calmg to RO water and flora trio and had low leaves fading all yellow.

People were like no thats not normal! Young veg plants. I was like uh he said its getting used to it and will go away. Such bs. Anyway I went to tap no calmag and never saw lock out again.

If I am now then damn I wish I was a chemist and new these things better.

Post your water report if you can get one. Also make sure the report you find isn’t super old, as things can change by the season let alone over several years.
