War

So you are saying that the money will be frozen until after the war?

"It is putting all that seized Russian money on the table too... "
I'm saying the Russians won't get the frozen money back and an international legal process will pay out reparations to Ukraine. I don't think they need to break international law to do it, it would spook other countries with their reserves in the US and UK. We have already given some frozen money and an aircraft I believe.

I don't think it will be necessary, but Putin will not be allowed to win and by that, I mean stay in Ukraine, all of Ukraine. A lot depends on the US election, Trump will be gone but a clone could be elected in 24 a fresh-faced fascist. Joe will leave Vlad a gift before he goes...

Aren't Trump and Putin saying the same thing as this clown. China is trying to calm down Iran and America is trying to calm down Israel, war is bad for business in general. Russia is dependent on Iran and North Korea for arms, not so much China who are providing plenty of other things not under sanction, but for a price. China wants better relations with the west, where they make their bread and butter, they are talking with the west and sense a new attitude among allies. Russia being ejected from the middle east could be a consequence of recent events and after Ukraine is done with them, they could have trouble staying in the Caucuses. The Russians just gave Kadarov Wager's equipment, and they are a big player in the region and represent Russia there now.

But the money and assets are not from the government but Russia's wealthy. What law will allow taking private property from the wealthy? Has not been done yet as they had not found a legal means of doing it yet.

In America the POTUS can declare a country a state sponsor of terrorism allowing the confiscation of private assets of its nationals by the government, he would most likely use it selectively. We will see about Russia's reserves abroad, that will need to be settled by an international court and they could set a precedent that might promote peace. National reserves are a touchy subject and are held in a form of trust and can't be taken without very good reason and a court case, other countries with reserves in America and the UK are watching. There is a lot of Russian money in the UK and it infiltrated the banking sector and tory party, the UK runs most of the world tax havens from the city of London, many in former colonial possessions, or just offshore.

Looks like Ukraine is falling behind the drone war, not enough investment in the right kinds I think, but it looks to be remedied soon. It just needs more money sent its way and put into the right areas. Perhaps allies like the Baltic states who have contributed so much military hardware could start building drones for them instead. Lots of allied countries could build FPV suicide and other kinds of drones, it would be more bang for their limited bucks. Ukraine has the foundation of a drone industry with dozens of companies making all kinds of drones and I figure just funding is required. They also need to winnow down the types of drones to the ones they want for each kind of mission and concentrate mass production on those.

Russia is running out of conventional arms and cheap commercial hobby products from China are used by necessity, such things are not under sanctions. This is all providing a look at future warfare and Uncle Sam and others are reacting accordingly. More countries than China produce drone parts though and western production is shifting from there. With increasing regulation on the hobby, it was hurting the drone and RC hobby industry sales, until this war came along.

They recognize the issue from what I can gather, and in this kind of situation that is half the battle, it appears more about allocation of resources, they need to pick the best designs from each class and go with that. The time from making the call to producing or buying the drones is relatively short and the funding required is not much for some classes of combat drones. It won't take much time to remedy the situation, they are not starting from scratch, but need to tweak the program. They are training thousands of drone pilots and have been for a while now so manpower should not be an issue. Eventually I expect the Ukrainians will have better and more EW weapons that should make commercial and FPV drone operations more difficult. Russia has recently deployed autonomous tactical suicide drones that can recognize their targets, one wonders where they get the chips for such things.

I disagree here, like the Ukrainians, America will decide how to deal with Russia and if it is their objective to destroy Russian military power and their economy, then a longer war will be required. Overwhelming force would make the Russians go home fast with their vast military arsenal intact, I think Joe's objective is to dispose of that shit before Russia is ejected from Ukraine. Joe has an objective for Ukraine, he's just not saying anything about it, and it will provide the best long-term security for America, Europe and Ukraine. It is unpleasant, but Joe will take responsibility and shoulder the blame for the Ukrainian government over the slow pace of the war.

Even if the Russians got another Trump traitor elected as POTUS in 24, Russia will be toothless and a broken nation by the time Joe is done with them. He might not be POTUS after 24, so he needs to secure things, besides Russia driven from Ukraine during an election year should be good for him at the polls.

Ben keeps putting the heat on DC though to step up the aid, he wants to win and knows how, back in his NATO days he would have gone through the Russians like shit through a goose in no time flat with NATO airpower and ground troops.

'Washington Has Not Decided If It Wants Ukraine to Win' - General Ben Hodges

"To say 'we are with Ukraine as long as it takes' is not an end-state - it is a feel-good statement that means nothing," says General Ben Hodges, who commanded the US Army in Europe from 2014 until 2017. Gen. Hodges, while applauding many of the White House's actions, says that "Ukraine winning" is not the end-state objective of the White House and that "Obviously, I believe that the end-state should be the defeat of Russia: Ejection to the 1991 borders."

Gen. Hodges pulls no punches in explaining why Ukraine bartering peace with Russia in exchange for Crimea, "the decisive terrain of this war," is a non-starter that no one can reasonably support.

Hodges leaves no doubts as to what the US must do now, if we want Ukraine to win.
