I disagree here, like the Ukrainians, America will decide how to deal with Russia and if it is their objective to destroy Russian military power and their economy, then a longer war will be required. Overwhelming force would make the Russians go home fast with their vast military arsenal intact, I think Joe's objective is to dispose of that shit before Russia is ejected from Ukraine. Joe has an objective for Ukraine, he's just not saying anything about it, and it will provide the best long-term security for America, Europe and Ukraine. It is unpleasant, but Joe will take responsibility and shoulder the blame for the Ukrainian government over the slow pace of the war.
Even if the Russians got another Trump traitor elected as POTUS in 24, Russia will be toothless and a broken nation by the time Joe is done with them. He might not be POTUS after 24, so he needs to secure things, besides Russia driven from Ukraine during an election year should be good for him at the polls.
Ben keeps putting the heat on DC though to step up the aid, he wants to win and knows how, back in his NATO days he would have gone through the Russians like shit through a goose in no time flat with NATO airpower and ground troops.
'Washington Has Not Decided If It Wants Ukraine to Win' - General Ben Hodges
"To say 'we are with Ukraine as long as it takes' is not an end-state - it is a feel-good statement that means nothing," says General Ben Hodges, who commanded the US Army in Europe from 2014 until 2017. Gen. Hodges, while applauding many of the White House's actions, says that "Ukraine winning" is not the end-state objective of the White House and that "Obviously, I believe that the end-state should be the defeat of Russia: Ejection to the 1991 borders."
Gen. Hodges pulls no punches in explaining why Ukraine bartering peace with Russia in exchange for Crimea, "the decisive terrain of this war," is a non-starter that no one can reasonably support.
Hodges leaves no doubts as to what the US must do now, if we want Ukraine to win.
