Hi everyone this is my first grow i am growing one plant from seed its Northern lights autoflower. i know you arent supposed to transfer autoflowers but too late i planted it in a solo cup and intended to transplant to a 5 gallon. i am using Coast of maine seed starter in the solo and will be transplanting to coast of maine stonington blend. im using led light on 50% intensity 20 inches above the plant. i have not added anything other than phed tap water. my plant sprouted out of the ground 7 days ago and i am worried that it is stunted because it is not growing. maybe im just worried? or maybe this is normal growth rate...? or is it stunted? thanks

What’s the temp in there? I see the heat mat, so that should help, but sprouts like things warm and humid. Looks pretty normal, maybe slightly behind. Too early to really be stunted yet, imo. They establish roots first then start to grow, which should be happening around now. Don’t think of transplanting till the plant has really established a root system. If you have another seed or two, I’d pop them. Autos are finicky and you might lose one or two along the way. Good luck!

Definitely stunted.
Not transplanting autos is bro science bullshit........you can transplant, top, and train autos.
thanks. how do i know what stunted it its 65-70°. should i honestly just restart in your opinion? i have more seeds but id need to know what tf i did wrong or is 65 really too cold to stunt it

the temp is 65-70 i try and keep it at 70 using a small heater as my landlord is not hooking up the heat yet. i my seeds are from seed supreme... i have more seed i will begin germinating one today. if they both grow would 2 autos fit in my 2by 2 tent or not? i know the humidity is good i got one of those things that controls it for you and am keeping it at 60-65

also i plan to use coast of maine ammendments (EWC, the fish bone meal in flower and the stronington plant food in veg) will that be sufficent?

also it doesnt look overwatered at all to you does ir? thanks so much for your help

65f is definitely too cold, and even 70 will potentially slow things down, but is much better. Get it into the mid-70s if you can. Your plant’s early development is slowed by temp, probably, but the plant is not “stunted”. That might happen later, but you should be able to get a full grown plant from that sprout - if you correct for conditions.

I agree that it does not look overwatered and won’t need much at this stage. Humidity sounds right for now but will need to be adjusted down later in the grow.

2 plants in 5 gallon containers should fit in a 2x2. I do four in a 3x3. I’m currently running a grow journal of autos which you can check out as a comparison. I’m still learning too, but each grow gets better. That’s why I’m suggesting you pop more than one seed. The more you observe from experience, the more you learn. More plants, more experience, as they’re all unique.

Get the temp up.

also for the second seed should i start it in the 5 gallon or transplant from solo cup as well? what would be easier? i thought the solo cup was smart because i could start with soil meant for seedlings but if it is easier on the plant id rather just plant right in the 5 gallon

Here’s a link to the grow journal. https://www.rollitup.org/t/mixed-auto-grow-with-spider-farmer-se3000-from-giveaway.1092744/

I’m wordy, but perhaps it’ll be helpful. I’m at the end of a grow now, one plant already down.

I’ve grown four rounds of autos in the past year or so, for perspective. No expert, but I’ve learned some stuff.

I generally prefer to start in the final pot. Fill it with your final grow medium and place a baseball size circle of the sprouting mix for the seed right in the middle of the top layer. The main concern here is overwatering. Use a dropper or something and give just a little water around the seedling. I do like to keep the outer soil slightly moist, but it won’t host roots for a bit.

Or start in the cup. I’ve never had an issue transplanting autos.

It's not stunted. At about five weeks if it's under 4" it's probably going to stunt but even then it could take off.

If you can keep it warm it should be fine. Looks good, BTW.

Looks good, if you can keep the humidity above 60% and have a breeze to strengthen that stem it will help. Might intro some kelp and a light N feed on your next watering.

Heres mine just turned 10 yesterday, in soil too i think this is the best growth rate ive had, straight happy frog soil,
Temp is high 70s
What led are you using, you need to make sure you’re giving them the appropriate amount of light,
Look up your lights ppfd chart
I gave these about 350 ppfd

I guess I'm the only one that thinks it's stunted.
Apparently there is a big difference in growth between coco and soil.
10 days from sprout.

Maybe it’s a matter of semantics? To me, that plant is delayed - it’s a little smaller than it should be at this point - as opposed to “stunted”, which suggests the plant no longer has the ability to reach its full potential. Does the sprout look like it can no longer grow to a fully formed plant? That would be stunted to me. Words words words.
