Glad it went well, you guys and PA were pretty important to hold onto/regain. Haven't looked at Wisconsin lately, but its in that important group as well. The brand of democrat that plays well there is something I like on the national stage and is important in terms of trying to expand into states like OH, TX, and GA. Florida is lost, they will sink into the ocean before democrats are competitive again.

I think the really important thing for them is their state race, they were so gerrymandered they might have veto proof majority so who is the governor doesn't really mean he can do anything. (just looked it up and they failed to get it luckily!)

they are stupid, but even they aren't stupid enough to try to send aid to russia. there is no way that would fly in this country, and it would be a very public fight between the two parties, with the republicans on the side of one of our worst enemies.

as for the republicans cutting off intell...they don't really have a say about that, they control purse strings, not the armed forces, old uncle Joe is the commander in chief of the armed forces, and if he decides they get intell, they get it. he also has a lot of discretion about where out of date equipment is disposed of...we seem to have a lot of out of date equipment, and Ukraine has lots of places they could store it, till it's appropriately disposed of...

I don't think they are motivated to do it, maybe Vlad has something on some of them, but it would divide the politicians and the base. When Donald and his minions go to prison much of the Russian influence will gone, no more republican senate visits to Moscow on July 4th. You know white Christians fighting big government with guns is popular among much of their base and the old hawks still with them. Russia was an enemy for generations and that doesn't go away overnight, they are also making fresh enemies among younger generations now.

That must be getting harder to slide by lately and if Russia collapses again those FSB and GRU files could be opened up like the KGB ones were for a while. It's not looking good for the bad guys IMHO, in America or Russia, the republicans fucked up epically thanks to Trump. Partly thanks to the SCOTUS abortion ruling too, a classic case of be careful what you wish for, you may get it, well they got it alright. I think the days of NRA friendship and spending July 4th in Moscow are long gone, like Moscow Mitch's Russian aluminum smelter for his state.

Judge Orders Newt Gingrich to Testify in Georgia Election Probe
A judge Wednesday ordered former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to testify before a special grand jury in Atlanta that's investigating whether then-President Donald Trump and others illegally tried to influence the 2020 election in Georgia.
Gingrich, who lives in northern Virginia, had argued that the federal law that normally requires states to honor out-of-state grand jury summonses should not apply in this case because the special grand jury lacks the power to indict. He also argued that the subpoena would be unnecessarily duplicative and burdensome because he has already agreed to testify in front of a congressional select committee investigating the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and that his testimony in both matters would essentially be the same.
But Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge Robert Smith sided with prosecutors who said the subpoena should be enforced. The judge said the law doesn't parse out a difference between regular grand juries and special grand juries, as Gingrich's lawyer argued.
"I think I have to read the statute as written," the judge said. Gingrich's lawyer, John Burlingame, said he expects to appeal the ruling. If the appeal fails, Gingrich will be required to testify to the special grand jury Nov. 29.
Because Gingrich lives outside Georgia, Willis had to use a process that involves asking a judge where he lives to order him to appear.
Willis filed that paperwork in court in Atlanta last month, and Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney, who's overseeing the special grand jury, certified that Gingrich is a "necessary and material witness for the investigation." In her petition seeking Gingrich's testimony as a witness, Willis said she relied on information made public by the House committee that is investigating Jan. 6.
The petition says Gingrich was involved along with others associated with the Trump campaign in a plan to run television ads that "repeated and relied upon false claims about fraud in the 2020 election" and encouraged members of the public to contact state officials to push them to challenge and overturn the election results based on those false claims.
Gingrich was also involved in a plan to have Republican fake electors sign certificates falsely stating that Trump had won the state and that they were the state's official electors even though Biden had won, the petition says.
