UPS REFUSING TO DELIVER GUN PARTS?

while i applaud their sentiment, it doesn't seem like those they are refusing to deliver for aren't actually breaking any of the laws...
that seems like they may be leaving themselves open to civil suits

They're a private company that is taking a stand..fully within their right.

Edit: War has broken out against our children and we're disrupting the supply chain..but UPS will deliver all FDA approved products.

like i said, i applaud their sentiment, but they had better be very sure of their legal footing, the gun parts and ammo dealers they're refusing to serve will have the deep pockets of the gun industry behind them if they go to court.

They’re better of with a new carrier anyway UPS has lost 50% of my orders over past year. Most recently last week I paid for second day air on a Tuesday and they had my package at the local distribution center at 430 am Saturday morning but still didn’t deliver my package until Monday evening. No refund or discount of shipping fee. I will no longer order anything from anywhere that is carried by UPS period.

yeah, but you know those big trucks that say "stay 300 feet back, not responsible for damage" blah blah blah?...they're responsible for damage, they have to operate by the exact same rules everyone else does, they don't have a special permit that allows them to tell others where they have to be....
not the same thing, i know, but you think this will go unchallenged? by gun industry lawyers? with the aid of fuck face republicans?....

Agree its the destroy part i think may be a problem. They are not judge and jury and imo don’t have any right to destroy any property that isn’t theirs
 
If it’s illegal products, turn it over to the fed postal inspectors as evidence. Thats how it works not just well we don’t like your products so we melted them wtf.
 
I don't blame them. It looks like they're targeting companies that sell all the parts needed to put together unregistered and untraceable firearms aka Ghost Guns. They would probably rather face off in court with the NRA than a dozen families suing them because they delivered the parts needed to build a weapon used in a mass shooting. You can still ship firearms. Not just kits that allow anyone to build their own untraceable weapon.

they are just using that name to bring in customers. buying an ar parts kit and a full receiver are legal. you can build your own with mostly common hand tools and a few specialty tools. but these are traceable by serial #s.

a "real" ghost gun is one w/o serial #s. and/or one where it's 3d printed.

Pretty much any business has the right to refuse service, so long as said refusal is not of illegally discriminatory nature (ie: it's not related to gender, creed, race, age, disability status, religion, etc).
 
UPS has likely deemed the possibility of being liable for shipping gun parts to be a bigger liability than canceling a few accounts of gun dealers.

Just want to point out that the link provided is not selling complete kits. They are the upper half of the gun, the stock, and the grip and springs for the lower. The lower is not included. That is the serialized part that is actually the firearm and needs to be shipped through an FFL with the proper checks. I know this probably falls on deaf ears, but I couldn't help myself.

While it is 100% legal to complete and build your own AR 15 on an 80% lower receiver without any type of serialization or registration, one should be aware of a few facts.

  • First, your firearm cannot be traced in the event it is lost or stolen.
  • Second, you may be called into question about the possession of such a firearm if your vehicle or home is ever searched by law enforcement. Although 100% legal, make sure you know the law and be even more certain you can defend your right of non-registration adequately.

The Laws to Build Your Own AR 15
According to the Bureau Of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms And Explosives (BATFE) the only part of the AR-15 that requires a Federal Firearms License (FFL) transfer at the time of purchase is the serialized lower receiver. This would refer to the serialization designated to a finished lower by the manufacturer prior to its sale. The only exception to this law would refer to the sale of 80% lower receivers, which the BATFE does allow to be sold without serialization or an FFL transfer.

An 80% lower receiver is simply a lower receiver which is inoperable due to in-completion on the part of the manufacturer. 80% lowers do not meet the BATFE’s legal definition of a firearm, due to the fire control group cavity remaining unmilled and in its original state. This is why it has received the name, “80% lower.”

All you need is one of these jig kits and you can complete the lower yourself and bypass any serial number. Drill a few holes and you have a 100% functional gun without a serial number. Everything can be purchased online. Plenty of DIY instructions available as well.

They also sell 80% lowers. You can also get the 80% lowers from numerous other places as well. Just get a jig and drill a few holes.
