Two tomatoes, some basil, fresh mozzarella and a balsamic reduction with local honey. Toasted ciabatta with olive oil and spices. And a

You got that right. I've come to the conclusion that tomatoes are a seasonal fruit here. Supermarket tomatoes are an abomination. We gorge from the garden while they're here and then wait until the next year. The lady bought a couple the other day and she couldn't even eat them. I didn't even give them a taste. I knew better. It’s so hard to get good tomatoes out here except in July/August/September.
A little char every now and then, especially how your family eats, is not only not harmful, but necessary!Something the wife and I disagree on, perhaps you guys and gals can chime in…. As shown in the ribs picture… I like just about all my meat with a little bit of charring. Not too much but a bit. I just think it adds flavor and texture. The wife's like "you just gave us cancer!" But she loses cuz I did the cooking tonight.
i put my ribs on the gas grill right before serving to caramelize the bbq sauce. if that gives me cancer, so be it.little bit of charring
Yes they say "Studies have shown" and all that. I don't care. A little char on some occasional ribs is pretty far down on the list of cancer causes. Some of the chemicals and preservatives in foods these days are much worse. I'm cooking meat in the smoker, on the grill, over charcoal, over wood, and I'm never going to stop. I also like a nice cast iron pan seared steak.Something the wife and I disagree on, perhaps you guys and gals can chime in…. i go back and forth on how i cook my steaks no matter waht style: ribeye, strip, loin, etc. grill, broiler, cast iron, smoker. etcI also like a nice cast iron pan seared steak.
What do you mean first? You have a second? Here’s my first wood burning pizza oven.
Was about a grand. Still have it. Can do a tray of meatballs or lasagna, or two pies.

I concur. You do have some awesome meals though. And you scored 4 touchdowns in a single game at Polk High! What do you mean first? You have a second?
You sure are the ultimate foodie. I thought I had some clout in that area but after seeing some of your posts you're in a whole other league than I am. I'm Al Bundy in the backyard barbecuing and your Jacque Pepin.
There’s a lot of good shit going on in this thread including yours. What do you mean first? You have a second?

I’ve been eyeing pizza ovens lolMade a couple pizzas last night. It's hard to get the crust cooked properly before the top gets too done in my crappy electric oven. I've been thinking about building a brick pizza oven in the backyard. Maybe this year I'll finally do it.

For me the perfect grilled steak: charred on outside and a bit cool inside. Very rare /blueI knew I wasn't crazy. And alone. Well, at least not alone.
Well good for you but I'm not a fucking psycho or a vampire Malt! It has to be clearly dead. And cooked for me. I like to see about equal gray and pink. I like to see the juices but I don't like to hear it moo.For me the perfect grilled steak: charred on outside and a bit cool inside. Very rare /blue
