Where should I move?

North Carolina has beaches on one side and mountains on the other. It's a little too far south for much snow. Asheville is a really cool town.
Yes! Covid's jacked prices of mountain homes even further west than Asheville (like way out in Cherokee). Remote worker revolution. For example, if I recall, NC is a state with 100 counties, yet most people flock to areas around cities like Charlotte, Raleigh, Wilmington, and to some degree, Asheville. Consequently, there are deals to be had in ~96 counties (fewer every year). Deals near the coast between VA and NC's Outer Banks. Deals in/around Elizabeth City. But if you have to live near your job, you're going to pay $100-300k+ more for a house.

Not Oregon. We're full.

"Referring to Oregon's tourist industry in a 1971 speech, McCall may have first publicly voiced his famous "Come visit, don't stay" slogan: "I urge them to come and come many, many times to enjoy the beauty of Oregon. But I also ask them, for heaven's sake, don't move here to live."

Thanks for all the inputs so far everyone. Really stellar stuff. Keep it coming. I'd say this is staying on track pretty well.

So far I'm leaning towards looking into AZ and NM more but am really open to any and all suggestions.

You guys have been here for my marriage, birth of my child. I guess moving is the last big ticket to punch lol.
AZ sucks in the summer. I know people that have a second home and go to AZ in the winter and then back to the Oregon coast for summer. Every time I've been to AZ I couldn't wait to get home and out of that place.

Never been to Taos but Albuquerque, Roswell, Artesia, Hobbs, and Farmington all suck.
You are not wrong.

I vote for that one also. I have only been there on vacation when I was a youngster but we camped up by Red River. There is a ski resort up there. Not sure how low the snow happens. I have always felt more comfortable in the mountains with big trees and trout streams.
Same except I have been there a lot lol. fly fishing gold metal/ blue ribbon waters after a couple toots from the dugout, is best in life.

Southwesternmost AZ is gorgeous. And close enough to the Mojave for discreet same-day delivery of National-security-level nudes.
