sooo i was considering of doing the same.. but my local hydro store told me if u remove it away it loses its efficiency~ HLG recommended keeping it together~ maybe you can custom a heatsink that should help alot. Not sure why hlg didnt add that but im sure they tested it and its better without it.

What I'm wrong? How high do you guys hang those a few feet? My 1000 watt bar light NEVER has to be 2-3 feet away past seedling. My 100 watt QB on the other hand can't get close to as close as my Meijiu can.

Tbh i have no idea right now. The post was up for enough time that anybody like us mere mortals would not be able to delete if we made it. My best guess is Steve HLG was a bit premature with his statement and got help later from mods.
It is standard to void warranty when thee end user modifies it, i was surprised steve okeyed it to start with.

no I run a hlg550 in a 4x4, gets hot when plants are within 12inch from the boards. Otherwise I run only one exhaust fan, passive air intake and an oscillating fan.

No they sent an extra pair of the good rope Ratchets which is a good thing
but it is confusing that they send the other wire ones at all if they have known issues.

probably the reason being is the boxes are packed elsewhere with the wired hangers and they cut the box open to put in the others - makes you think were are the boxes packed and who buy ( which company packs for them?) - conspiracy theory's -No they sent an extra pair of the good rope Ratchets which is a good thing

Right, because there's no chance that they boxed hundreds of these units at their own shop before realizing there was an issue with the cable hangers, and then had to reopen them to make it right. Dang, where's my tin foil hat anyway?

Not sure what the driver is rated for temp wise but mine has gotten nowhere near too warm to worry about it. Did you get your light? Are you having temp issues with it?

I mean can I safely run my tent at let’s say 90F? I’ve heard you can run higher temps with LED is this true?

Yes got light. Running it @ 431w @ 81F at about 29”

I figure once I get to 600w it will be around 90. Haven’t ran it full power yet

So I’m thinking I might have to invest in the 8” fan cuz my 6” is @ full power unless it would be ok to reach 90F?

Sure. No problem.
And I try to keep temps for LED, high 70's or low 80's. But it's been 90 without a problem too.

You can push them pretty high with good air flow. Just keep them watered and air flowing. 90 is pretty high but should be manageable if you keep the air flowing flowing and pots fed.
