HLG 650R vs Gavita 1700e

Gavita recommends placing the LED's at 18 inches in flowering........you're not going to lose much light at that distance anyway. I keep them at around 16 inches on average from the top of the canopy, and the buds are well developed for only 1 month in flowering.
Pics of the buds at 1 month?

which one would you pick and why?

- I like the Gavita because of the equal lighting spread with the bar design but its $200+ than the HLG 650r.

- HLG 650r is cheaper, more efficient but it does not have the equal light spread that Gavita does which I think might be a deal breaker.

- I'm leaning towards Gavita 1700e becuase I feel like the bar spread outweighs the 650R's price and efficiency. the entire canopy gets equal lighting.

I didnt list Fluence Spyder 2i because its a couple hundred bucks more than the Gavita 1700e and has similar specs.

what do ya'll think? im thinking im for sure going to replace my bloom room's HPS with one of these choices in this next run or two.

LED technology is advancing so fast. Idk if I should even spend a grand for each light when a new, more powerful one is going to come out next year.
Don't forget about ChilLed. I have a code for 5% off, but they're on back order right now.

And you should check out another US Mfr that's competitive with Fluence
and the new model with UV bars

That's 1/2 of the room, 28 days in flowering. The other side of the room (each side has a Gavita 1700e) looks exactly like it. 12 plants each side...........

Yeah decent. Mine are exactly same day in flower and I’m glad I saved myself the extra $3k not buying hyped up gavitas :D because mine are stacked two times the size at a fraction of the price.

Now fuck off noob and post up your 2x4 tent

You can go much lower really. With a strip light the minimum height you can use is equal to the heart-to-heart distance between the bars/strips

I was running them at a 12 inch distance, and I felt the plants suffered a bit. My CO2 level is at about 900, so bringing them much closer probably doesn't add any value. If I supplemented it to a higher level, then that might be a different story.

Yeah wouldn't go lower than 8" myself with 8 bars distributed over 5'.

I hang my strips at 6" (equal to heart-to-heart strip distance). Sometimes I let the taller plants grow between the strips. No CO2 at all.

It's not that big a deal I guess. I see about 1% to 2% more light in total per inch lowered. Lower hanging light means less light lost on the walls.

I did hear back from Gavita today and they recommend hanging their LED's in flowering at 18 inches for a 4 X 4 ft. area and at 20 inches for a 5 X 5 area to increase the spread a bit.
