Gaslantern routine 10/5.5/3/5.5

I live in San Diego and I grow in a greenhouse, regardless I have a small amount of supplemental lighting (because I just sprouted seeds a couple days ago so I need to keep my plants in veg for a few extra weeks). Anyways, it never drops below 50 in San Diego so you can grow year round especially if you have a greenhouse. I'm considering starting seeds indoors in the first couple weeks of December and then vegging from January through February and flowering in the spring. In January and February we only get 10 hours of direct sunlight a day and I was considering using the gaslantern technique where I use the full 10 hours of direct sunlight in my green house then 5.5 hours later turn on my supplemental lighting for 3 hours then turn it off and repeat so I can veg through the January and February (9 weeks not including the two weeks I'm using to start my seedlings in December). Would this work?

I personally prefer indoor growing but I smoke like a quarter a day and I got a 12x10x10 greenhouse in weather paradise and can get some amazing seeds from the local dispensary. Plus I don't have enough room for indoor growing. My drying room leaks from the roof when it rains on one half so I start my seeds on the side that doesn't and I wait till it's not raining for a week to harvest. So I'm just trying to keep a 6 plant perpetual harvest using glr and my green house. Also not running up a big electric bill is important. Landlord said to keep the growing between the greenhouse and drying room.

It will work. Most knowledgable outdoor growers in Hawaii veg outdoors this way since we never get more than 13.5 hours of sun a day.

Also you don't need to have the lights turn on in the middle of your dark period...You can just have lights come on at sunset and stay on for a few hours. Simple 10-15W led bulbs work just fine.

Much appreciated. That being said I'm doing 6 big ass plants so im wonder if I need like 60 actual watts per plant or a 75 watts (actually 19) would work like this https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/200062/TCP-10018.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwoaz3BRDnARIsAF1RfLec_vEQFGPV0iIWizORDfPHiAG_MbSNZHW63FNEKc2wryxkQvheRdUaAlRMEALw_wcB

Also I'm growing short harvest indica dominant strains that I'm pretty sure flower when you you get 10 hours of darkness so thats why im using adding about 20 minutes with supplemental light and slowly increasing so I stay at solstice hours (14 hours 20 minutes) through August so I can mainline my plants.

10W LED bulbs are equivalent to 75w Incandescents they just require a lot less electricity to use. Here's a pic I stole off another forum of a local growers setup so you can see what is possible. It doesn't take much light at all to keep your plants in veg.

So I'm just going to do sativa dominant hybrids in December and just run the lights from sundown for 4.5hours and veg through mid February and just use my light trap cover so I can match a 12/12 schedule through may. Thank for the advice everyone.

GLR doesn't make sense indoor but for outdoor it works like a charm. Especially if you want to veg in huge pots that wouldn't fit indoors

Another quick question. Since you seem to know the most about glr. If I start my plants indoor under 16/8 and start them mid December then put them outside in January and then and add six hours after sundown using glr and a light dep cover on my greenhouse (so I don't send a beacon to my neighbors because despite being legal and having chill neighbors I still don't want to be a dick) will my plants reveg 5 weeks into flower during April when I start getting 13 hours of light?

In Hawaii we get 13 hours and 25 minutes of sunlight on our longest day. I have never had a full blown reveg but you definitely see a difference in flower structure compared to growing the same strain in the winter. Most obvious differences are tighter flowers in the winter with 11hour days and a little more leaf on the same strains grown in summer. You may have different experiences in your location, if it is not too much trouble to light dep under under 13 hrs you will be fine.

Eventually I'll probably invest in an automatic one if I can afford it.
I could probably do that. I usually work morning shifts and work 8 to 11 night shifts a month where I won't be able to do that. Also I'm kind of a homebody so I could keep it down to 12 hours most days. I don't think the occasional extra hour of indirect sunlight will be a problem.

So I got my lights installed and I'm running 9 24 watt (100 watt equivalent) in my 10x12x10.3 polycarbonate greenhouse. I'm only running them till 10 pm and while it's not noticable to neighbors I'm worried it's probably like a Christmas tree from the sky. I got the light dep cover and cannot get it on for the life of me. You know of any method or tools in the 400 dollar range I could use get to put it on? It's a very light weight 32x50 foot cover.

I think what you are describing is called light dep growing. Mixture of sun and grow lights. That's how they grow all year round here in Humboldt outdoors. Funny you can always see bright ass lights of farms in the hills.

Just realized those things cost $2000. Good lord that’s a cannatax if I ever seen one.
They look simple enough to make yourself for probably under $200.
