Clone or a clone of a clone

Thought I’d bring this diarrhea to the last page for another laugh
"he says every 6-7 yrs he has to switch up his line due to sumthing"

Come on now, how can't you be convinced? Isn't "due to sumthing" not enough detail for you to become a believer? LOL

I think it was answered very concisely by @spek9 on the first page.

The rest of this broscience bipolar thread summed up below

Okay I went back and read the first page. I wanted a little more detail, context, and whatnot, but I’ve gotta remind myself that this forum is not some elite ag journal and I won’t find a whole lot of really in-depth theory on here. I tried to summarize the way it works with mushrooms for a point of contrast, and am still itching for a good read on how senescence affects cannabis clones. I guess the answer to my question is “usually a long time, up to and exceeding a decade, although other factors can cause the clone to fail earlier”. That it in a nutshell?

This is interesting. They use the term “genetic drift” instead of senescence, which makes me think that instead of cell divisions slowing and ultimately stopping, it’s more an issue of mutation. Still have a lot of questions but I’ll try to answer them through independent research.

Your link is quit correct!
Yet they actually TELL you that it's not a "normal" occurrence!

Any "shift" (PLEASE don't use the term "genetic drift" That is how to describe change by sexual activity.)
Is going to be the fault of some type of environmental influence....
Bug infestations, plant illness, poor care (anything from feeding to climate) can, and does do exactly what they describe as "certain gene's being turned off or on..."

I've tried to convey this message here, several times, in several ways...

Be NICE to your mothers, or to your plants that you clone from pre-bloom trimming.

I have also seen a sort of reverse to that. A plant once came in that should have run like a powerhouse. It was miserable and small budded, with low quality results. I kept one in one of the ops. In the 4th generation clone......It shifted to a shorter running bushy plant with massive, high potency buds.

It did not run well for the environment it came from and thrived in mine. Once it was let to "environmentally shift" on it's own.
It is now one of my staple strains that commands high $ and commercial success.
It has been a parent in one of my best breeding program results.

Bottom line here? Cloning does not change how a plant runs nor it's quality. It's how YOU or the environment treats it!

"environmental shift" is common. Generally not a bad thing, unless it creates stress factors. The more stress? The more possible the negative result.
Russet Mites can cause major issues if left unchecked or allowed to go on too long. Look carefully at your plants every day!

Well ok u can get past that point it’s possible. it’s more I said that because the kid was like oh my shit is 29% when in reality it most likely was fudged to add a few more % . I wasn’t saying weed can’t be that high in %. It’s just who it’s done by and u know exactly what I’m talking about....
First off. I'll bet he didn't spend the big bucks to have the required 2 grams tested either.

I also agree with you! I bet he gave the total cannabinoid count, and not the THC total counts... drop at least 3 points off that 29.

Cannabinoid count TOTAL on the Bruce's Monkey is 32.93

Thank you! That was exactly the kind of detailed explanation I was looking for. Much appreciated! Also you mention russet mites, which I hope I never get. I have a local friend with a large grow op and he says they’re the absolute worst and a real issue out here. I’ll be on the lookout, and will probably never bring in outside clones to help keep them at bay. Hopefully they don’t find a way to invade my soil bin. And for what it’s worth, I’d like to think I keep my plants happy, in a nice environment and with a good feeding regimen, but I’ve only been at this for about 18 months and know that I have much more to learn.

Keep flexing u deserve it for 32%,seriously. but still, all I was saying is I ONLY smoke fire strains like cookies x purps , dosi*, the sherbets, og’s etc.. and the 29% is of this stuff! Stripper spit, I baught it I didn’t say I grew it? I had my auto criticals and amnesia tested at a local smoke shop when I grew the 17 in 3gal pots under a 1000w light and got 24.5oz .. 17. Something percent, I forget but it was closer to 18 I only got the critical tested not the amnesias.. This was in like 2014/15 tho, I’ve been growing better strains recently, and them seeds were by kera I prefer Barney’s n the other top company’s over kera.. I have 3 blue cheese by kera out of my 9 this run and there not as vigorous or potent as my gorilla zkittlez n 8ball from the “farm” , N as far as I know they actually discontinued their blue cheese and this is an olddddd pack from my local shop probly 7+ yrs old because I have 1of3 that’s kicking out bananaers, they must have hermy tendencies... happy I’m day 52 flower today and it only started producing that crap less than a week ago so.. yeahhh. I wasn’t saying I grow 30%? But I do know this gorilla zkittl3z n 8ball kush should both push out 20+% , the GZ should b 22+ maybe higher it says 24+% on the package and it is a gg4 cross (obv) I donno we will c how potent she is here in 3 weeks when I get to try it for the first time..sorry for shitty pictures but there is tons of crystals packing on like I said I’m day 52 now , the last 3 days I’ve noticed substantial trich production. And I can c that stickiness/resin output coming into play as of probly day 50? There rly starting to ramp up though now

And the guy that comes n opens up the pool for summer in my back yard, went home n told a buddy of my mother’s that all he could smell was weed lol.. sketchy af, buddy was saying u shouldn’t smell shit if u got a filter, well boys I’m using a 5x5 tent with an infinity fan blowing on max speed 24/7, a brand new filter but I have to keep the tent unzippered a bit to cool it from 81-90 down to 75-79, and as a result of the tent door being 20% hanged open, everyone can blatantly smell weed half way down my fucking driveway ffs lol

I'm calling complete bullshit.

Even with the zipper open 20%, a properly sized fan and filter should easily be able to maintain a negative suction in the tent.

If you're not lying, you're an idiot for bragging about giving away your grow location so readily.

For ventilation to work properly you need to have the fans and filters sized correctly. You might be pulling too much air through your filter too fast and it’s not having the ability to filter it.

It’s a 6 inch inifty and it has a very hard time pulling through both lights man, it’s got a lot of ducting like 30ft altogether to get outside I bet..including the duct within the tent (probly 6-7ft my guess) This is my best pic of the set up rite here, before I flipped my lights to 12/12
