Setting the precedent of a current president overseeing an administration that prosecutes his former political opponent is a big step to take. Gerald Ford, with proof in hand that he committed crimes, pardoning Richard Nixon -- "to heal the nation's wounds" -- is the only precedent we have. I totally agree that Trump is guilty of crimes. I'd like to see Trump behind bars, I'll say that right now. I just don't think that Biden will do it. Biden is an old and experienced politician. Perhaps he will cut a deal with Republican Senators to let Trump off the hook in exchange for passing some critical legislation. I don't know if that would be the worst thing to do. Perhaps this might be better over all for the country than seeing Trump marched into prison while Congress is deadlocked.

I think the easiest way to get America to see what has been going on with all of the disinformation campaign that he has been involved with. From Hate radio, the lies pushed on Fox News, and all of the online data manipulation and trolling. A nice trial should bring it all into the light hopefully.

The notion of "healing", or "uniting" the country is a farce. We've never been united and Trump has taken off the cover that we will ever heal. If we really want to believe that "no one is above the law", then Biden is right to stay out and let Kamala Harris, as AG, prosecute crimes.

I'm just putting it out there that Biden has in the past dealt with nuance and moral issues by taking a pragmatic approach. Such as busing. I'm not saying what he "should" do, just saying that he's been the type to use something like this to make a deal. I don't know what he will do. Good post. I like the thought of using a Trump pardon for political and social gain. Good things can be accomplished because of a pardon. One thing is certain, if Trump is gone with a pardon he’s not going to be quiet. Republicans still have to worry about his base.
