24/7 LED Veg anyone?

Are we certain there are no spider mites in this grow? Those spots could be where the eggs and hatched mites are causing deficiencies but with how much I see, I would also expect to see some webbing by now, which I cannot see, but it is a little hard to tell. A closeup of some heavily affected leaves would help us get a more determinate answer.
I have been on 24/7 veg for a while now. I was 18/6 before, I like them both and to be honest I don't see huge differences between them, plant training and root vigor are much more important for growth rate and health than light cycle, in my opinion. I used LED shop lights with the highest umol output available, I tested about 10 different brands before settling. Root growth does happen at "night" but as stated, like they do in Alaska during the endless summer, the plants realize quickly they have an unlimited photon source, and they won't *not* make use of it just because they weren't started in that cycle. If that makes sense?

If it isn't mites, I agree looks like Ca deficiency, given the uniform spread of the dots. Some comments I've seen over the years on RIU detest the use of calmag (they like to use epsom salt and pickle crisps, among other things) but whenever my clients are showing a deficiency, the CalMag from botanicare has never failed to remediate the issue. I run it at 5ml/gal for veg and bloom so as to not overdo it, this prevents lockout and mineral buildup, my runoff pH is very stable. If a plant is showing a lot of deficiency across the leaves (where it gets bad enough such that the plant looks like it has a rust infection) I go to 10ml/gal for 1 or 2 feed cycles (only for the affected plant ofc, not all plants in the room)

I hope things continue to work out, it's looking good.

Thanks man.

Your right, I have spider mites. Little bastards. I spray them off with water daily. Keeps them at bay.

The plants are looking way better since I raise its food levels.

I ultimately identified my error. I was using multiple meters to measure nutes, they were off by a bit, and that threw my feeding off. Live n learn I guess.

Hi everyone!

Does anyone run 24/7 LED? I find my plants go light green and just stop growing if I use 24/7 LED. If I am 18/6 then they fine....

Does anyone grow 24/7 under 500umol LED?
Yes, I run 24 7 at around 400 umols in veg.
3 x samsung f strips 4000K at ~ 84 watts in attic or 400 umols in the garage.
They need all the heat they can get...... lol

Yes, multi metering can affect you, usually I trust the same one and only use my backup to check if I feel like the pH or PPMs aren't making sense given what I mixed in.

As far as spider mites go, Green Cleaner is my favorite. Over a week I will apply a heavy amount during my last thatch, this ensures my bloom room stays mite-free. I follow up the following week with a heavy foliar, followed by pure RO drench to wash any residual off. Doing so during the first 2 weeks of flower ensure you don't spray any forming bud, and more importantly no risk for mold or budrot from the water.

There is also a vacuum attachment, a plastic cone which can be used to treat fucked up areas that can be hard to spray, I think amazon has some. Havent tried it myself but a few of my clients like it.

Are you just limping them along with the mites then doing a total clean restart? If not, look into a product called plant therapy. I use it to knock out small infestations and it works great. They aren't able to build an immunity to the product and it doesn't add any chemicals to your grow.

I'm let's call it, experimenting.

I have two clients that run Plant Therapy, it does smell wonderful and works for most bugs. However in my honest opinion, it does not super effectively control spider mites even with heavy dosing. It will prevent them from building webs and getting rampantly out of control, but not so much that your final yield is unaffected, you will continue to see deficiency spots on the leaves with it. But it will help mitigate a total mite takeover, for sure, and its very safe to use.

Thanks dude. Great to know this information. Im growing my plants for fun. I love it, its my passion. So what if my plants have some spider mites, the bud it makes I love. I would rather have mites than any chemical insecticide. Never loose sight its just a plant, dont need to go mad over it @
rkymtnman .

Repeat after me : "Its just a plant" "its just a plant" "its just a harmless plant with some spiders on it" "its not the end of the world, its just a plant". Im sure that will help you should you ever get spider mites, powdery mildew, bud rot, root rot, insects, problems or heaven forbid a dead plant.

Agreed. I wasn't able to knock them out on larger flowering plants, but it did help me limp them along to harvest. It does work on killing them off on smaller plants in veg as long as you don't let the problem get out of hand. I also use diatomaceous earth which I've found to work fairly well, but again this is on very small issues. I use it because it is safe and I refuse to use any chemicals. chems hardly work on spider mites unless you are able to kill them ALL in one go. They seem to become immune rather quickly.

you can't kill them all in one grow. the eggs hatch about 3 to 5 days and then you got a whole new batch. you need 2 applications of death to get rid of them.

They looking great now. I'm happy. It seems the spider mites and powdery mildew disappeared once my plants got healthy again. Unhealthy plants = pest and disease. 20200501_141123.jpg

I hate spider mites. the only way I've found to truly get rid of them is to pull clones from plants you want and throw everything else away.

Ye, and fumigate the room. They will be back. But I believe, keep the plants healthy and the they will fight back!!

24/7 is a waste of time and money. Do you operate on zero hours of sleep? We treat plants like robots, just because we can doesn't mean we should. To get the best from your plants they need dark too.
