I was thinking about using the same wattage but hoping for an increase in "umff" rather than just sitting where i am now. Deeper canopy penetration would be brilliant if doable.

Not the same amount by the look of that !

I know its not yours but that's a terrible test.
Its more a test of how quick tent fabric can dissipate heat or how fast a not ventilated space can heat up.

1200w of DE-HPS can easily be replaced with 660-800w of good, well spread, some Horticultural Spec effort, led with kess then half the ambient heat if you have a remote driver & a heck of allot less radiant heat.
Have FR or IR in your led i recommend.
Good leds are putting out Twice as much light then a SE-HPS , Watt for Watt.
I just harvested 3.5+ a light

Cani just buy that spec or does it need to be built up, and if so is it difficult ?

↑ This - I truly feel at some level led "grow light" companies are intentionally dooping people so they can roll out spectrum one step at a time and keep selling fixtures to the same customers over and over.
The technology is there, yes we see goniophotometers being used but the tech is also there to PROPERLY develop a combination of diodes that gives a true FULL spectrum including Fr/Ir, some UV end nm's, plus a proper spectral blending at distance from fixture.
Hello....Hellooooo....... Where are you led manufacturers that are actually putting in the work?

There are a few spectra options as of recent.
If you were to build it up (the spectrum) it would not be to difficult to diy by tracing or replicating.
The other aspects of the fixtures are allot more difficult to replicate beyond simple functionality purposes. Which is good enough for most DIY'rs.

Any spectrum from Amxre is a Growing spectra. Not a plain white & not a fugly burple.
AMxRE spectra is Called:
-Equatorial spec (Solar-Eclipse + Pro models)
-Canna-Spec (SE or Pro)
-Solar-Spec (C) (Bar-8)
-Solar-Spec HE (Bar-8)
-Canna-Spec (Bar-8)
-Canna-Spec UV.
The new Bar-6 LUV will have manual spectrum blending between veg + flower .

This is soo true for the leaders of this industry. Selling piece meals while knowing what true Horticultural lighting is. Primarily based around Electrical efficiency. That's why they all use only 35k & 660. The 2 most efficient chips that will produce good enough results for most people who don't compare lights.
Now put that basic HE spec next to an led/cmh combo or an Amxre. You'll see the difference all right. No lab tests needed. Your senses are all the lab test you need.
