Much of a head fuck for u wen you first got into seting up hydo?. Id like to give it a shot but reckon ill run soil for abit wen wen i make the move indoors
Was a bit at first m8. There wasn’t the products available back then like what’s easy available now, or the availability of much information. Even with about 10 years of outdoor behind me it was a new learning curve. What first got me was how quick things go, both the good and the bad, n I experienced plenty of both, but that’s how you learn eh!

Edit: What method with hydro interests you?

Yeah I also ran a Hailea (can't recall size) chiller when I ran the 12x 20L RDWC system.
Like you said, when water is the medium especially, you've got to keep DO levels as high as possible.

Man I loved that system, built it from scratch from thread on Overgrow, it fucking rocked for it's day.
I ran the Lucas formula in it. Had a great air pump that made those things buzz with bubbles.
Grow rates, plant health, all best I've ever had.
Plants were just too big and immobile with all the drain & feed & air lines.
I fucken hate that.
I like to be able to move my shit around.

It was so cool seeing the day to day explosive growth of bubblers in early flower.
I'd open the room after dark period and think holy shit wtf happened in here lol :D
Hurts the brain abit tryna read up on full hydroponics but the results sound second to none. Im a bit the same i reckon id rather be able to move everything around for ease of access an all that but im sure you could build tables to get around the plants from every angle though. Yours would of been a good setup by the sounds though

I’ve seen others, like you, get awesome results with RDWC. I did DTW HPA for a bit and loved it, only thing, like you said with RDWC, is the set up, and immobile, and then you’re glued to it and can’t even leave it for 24 hours, if that!

DTW is best for coco. I have my mums in coco, and it’s good. Fairly forgiving compared to other hydro methods. I.e easier to fix an issue if one arises.
Flushing hydro sounds a hell of a lot easier then flushing soil. But im diggin the no till setups

@OzyM8 Only joined RIU to get a quick answer on wat was up with me plant an old mitchician was quick to help me out with that. Now how ever many months later im still here an spent endless amounts of time reading, watching vids on all differnt growing methods an gettin more hookd on it everyday. If only i was as lucky as bursto an could find half of me indoor crap at the local tip

Do ya run a drain to waste set up with the coco or resirculating system
drain to waste. I don’t fuck around with recirculating systems. no need, my nutrients are already cheap af and pretty ph stable. Even if I switch to rockwool or straight perlite I’d still run dtw so I don’t have to fuck around with maintaining a res that fluctuates as the plant uses stuff. I do have plans on running a res for feeding my coco but it’ll still be dtw, just need to finish a few things up.

I like the idea of having a rez tank system though cause im a lazy bastard.. id have to read more if i could mix up large amounts of nute solution that i could have ready to last a few days to a week an then run a pump an timer with drippers or something, make life easy as fk.
How often are you cleaning out the trays on ur dtw sytem. If ya could run it off straight out into another drum or something be the go.

my tray’s run strain into a drain. Returning the run off starts more problems than I want to deal with (ph fluctuations, ec fluctuations) I’m currently hand watering but will be switching to a res over winter but it’ll only be a feed res and my trays will still run to the drain.

My trays and drain. Drain runs out of the cupboard and into a drain outside (I’m in a laundry)

Yea i wasn talkin bout running it out into another drum to be reused on the plants again, dunno if the runoff would be of any use round the yard or not? Think i read somewhere someone was reusing it for that reason.. Your set up looks nice an easy an looks good as it is with stuff all rootin round
