Aussie Growers Thread

Adult life cycle is so quick it’s not really an issue if your treating the larva properly and traps don’t really impact larger populations anyway. they’re used as in indication to whether the treatment that’s being used is working by counting numbers ie 1 sticky trap per meter checked weekly will tell you if numbers are declining or growing. They aren’t, nor should be, considered a treatment
I don't really disagree at all.
For me the stickys are an essential part of a prevention routine (as to judge effectiveness like you said)
And any infestation treatment needs to be followed up with a steady prevention routine you'd agree.

An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure
Especially with those fuckers.
They are the only pests I deal with in a completely sealed room.
I've read it's possible the coco, even 'good' brands (I normally use Canna Pro, sometimes H&G), come with eggs helpfully preinstalled from the factory. :D

That’s correct. I don’t even bother treating them unless they’re really really bad anymore. This run I’ve had to cheap out on the Bunnings hydro coco/peat bags and I’m actually surprised I haven’t seen a single gnat yet.

I keep reading good things but haven't managed to find a thread with details on his lights?
Could you help a brotha out with a link? :peace:
Pm the man directly. They’re in the process of build a website etc.

There’s a thread in the led section with more guys who get right into the details (just use the search bar for “highlights”)

From what I’ve read they are pretty decent (could be the new hlg), decently priced and supporting Aussie because prawns one of us.

That's very interesting about the Bunnings coco.

Yeah, I certainly have learned what having fungus gnats under control actually means.
I used to think it meant complete eradication and would use chemicals if I had to.
I rarely, if ever, see fliers with my BTI/stickys management routine but I see still some some crawlers here and there.
But not in a population high enough to be problematic.

I put that coco in my soil I haven’t had any issues

Hey guys, this will be my last ever spam post – I promise! :D

Long story short, a small company has been formed to sell High Lights, heatsinks and drivers etc. I don't have anything to do with the company. I helped design and test the boards and I guess you could say I'm a behind-the-scenes consultant. But everything from now on will be handled by the company so that I can go back to being a normal member.

The new company is "Grow Lights Australia" and there is another member here now under that name who is a sponsor (sponsorship details are currently being worked out I believe).

I don't want to pre-empt the sponsorship arrangement – there will be an announcement in the next couple of days – but there is now a website at www.growlightsaustralia.com that has prices and info.

What I do know is that RIU members will be offered a 10% discount on all purchases. This will offset GST for Aussie buyers and postage for overseas buyers (who pay no GST).

These are exactly the same boards and heatsinks etc manufactured here in Australia by the same guys. The only difference is I've always had a presence on RIU and they haven't. They're now going to take a more active role so I can get back to being just plain old me :bigjoint:

A few friends and I have been using these boards for over a year now, and they haven't missed a beat. There are a couple of threads already (below).

Thanks everyone for all the interest. These boards did not start out as a business venture – we just made them for our own use and over the past 12 months we've been getting more and more enquiries, so one of the guys decided it would be a good idea to make more boards and start offering them. Hence the new business.

Cheers.
