Yeah for about three years now I have done this. You have to be watchful for idealism however . . . remember everything is always changing and ideals will keep you from growing.:peace:
It has had a profound impact on my life, now I truly know love and I know what I really want to do with my life. I've been freed from most of my metal bondage too. Its pretty cool when you start accepting everything into your life rather than rejecting. Life gives its fruit freely no need to worry about picking it . . . .:peace:

i lived like that for a long time. years. but your right, idealism is not so easily practiced. i'm much more pragmatic now then i was....better all around i think, although i will admit, it's a more difficult road now.

not so easy to be free at heart when you have to compromise your ideals each day. but that's one of the fundamentals of maturity isn't it? compromise i mean? like a healthy relationship is comprised of both individuals owning their part...

So what are you doing to make money?

Unfortunatly for me, I cannot find a job that I would like that would pay me what I need to buy a house.

Exactly you must give up the relationship with yourself, ie ego. This means you must compromise with yourself at first. Then realization and awareness will allow you to live the best you can with your physical limitations. Nothing will ever be perfect, it already is.:peace::mrgreen:

I'm a chef but I have grown weed, I will soon only grow weed. "alternative" sources of money that are not detremental to others are a powerful form of protest. The most important thing is to avoid mind numbing jobs and not become a monotonous drone. I also like to trade rather than buy if possible. Every heard of the guy that knocked on peoples doors started with a paperclip and said "I'll trade you this for something better". He ended up with a house. Detachment from the material is necessary. For me it took immense pain for me to lose my attachments to material.

LOL.. nice..

It was really rough for me as well.. when I just picked up and moved it was the best way for me, whatever didn't fit in our car didn't come with us (dodge neon.. so def. not a big car, lol) anything that did come was pretty much a MUST HAVE.. I had gotten rid of a lot of stuff before we moved, but I still have a lot of stuff in storage out there.. we got a few boxes we had left out there this past weekend, and after living for 4 months now with nearly nothing, I'm looking through these boxes and just thinking "WTF did I ever need this for?" LOL.. much much easier to purge the left overs after living with nothing.. lol.. still sleeping on the blow up mattresses and eating on the floor.. and honestly, I don't mind.. lol..

It is so funny after you go through that pain of losing stuff you are just fine with what you have and wonder why you needed more in the first place. I packed everything I own into my VW GTI, it was full for sure and now I am halfway to my dream already! . . .

Yeah and if you say anything about it it like you a tearing their whole world down. My ex did not understand why I did not like make-up. I'm just not attracted to vanity anymore . . . and women seem to adjust to my lack of interest in vanity by adding more. Nothing wrong with looking nice it just can't be SOOOO important that you can't even function anymore. So many narcissistic people this day in age, and they wonder why marriages don't last . . .

"Hippies" not a LOOK, it's an ideological lifestyle. There's plenty still around, but you certainly couldn't spot them by their dress code.
Undercover hippies . . . everywhere.
I guess I am one then . . . .

I have a job, I have insurance on my car, I have rental insurance, I do own things, and yes I sell weed. But is there really anything wrong with that? I'm happy as hell and I'm about to live out my dream surfing growing and going to school to study english lit. So my "contributions" to society may not be in the form of physical wealth. I add to the world by spreading joy in relationships with other people. The illusion is that the only "acceptable" way to live is in competition with life. I find it much more better to go with the flow. I have had money, a nice car, nice place to live, girlfriends, great jobs, and lots of insurance. None of that EVER made me happy, in fact I was miserable and had to take meds for depression just to get by. So what is the point of life if you can't enjoy it? Accept the "good" and "bad" and just live is what I say.:peace:

Don't fall into the trap you may never make it out alive . . .

Exactly.. 'whores of Babylon' seems to define it to the core to me.. lol..

The fact that I came to was that if I 'needed' these things to make me 'feel better' or 'feel good' that must mean I don't 'feel good' in the first place.. The society conditioning unraveled from there for me.. most people inherently hate themselves, and won't admit it..
