Shameful America

I can't help but wonder what America stands for when the heroes of September 11 2001 are allowed to be treated in such a pathetic way.
I don't care what your political affiliation is, how the fuck is this shit even slightly acceptable?

This is one of the best speeches I've seen in 2019 for sure. Jon Stewart has been fighting this frontline for 18 fucking years. Without him, concerns about 9/11 responders healthcare would be so far forgotten by now and that chamber wouldn't have a single ass in the seat (talking about the congress). His passionate concern is infectious and extremely inspiring, I actually shed a few tears along with him while listening. Dude commanded that entire room and showed the kind of leadership exemplified only in movies or text. The mic drop at the end was the cherry on top. I really hope he enters into politics at some point, but I also hope he doesn't, we need people like him right now. Great clip.

It ain't about Jon Stewart. How sad is it that it is even him who has to be speaking up for them?
That clip is better then any comedy bit he has ever done by far. I am Canadian, and we have our own problems, but I am honestly shocked that those people haven't been taken care of without question from day one.
But they sure did use those sick heroes every chance they have had for their own benefit.

Cheers :)

That's the extent of our actual representation. Everyone I've ever spoken to about this agrees with your sentiment here. Foreign, domestic, everyone. You put your life on the line to save others in an emergency, you should be taken care of, no questions asked, whatever you need. Everyone I know would gladly pay more in taxes to make this happen. The sad reality is, corporations run our country, and dying 911 responders don't make the company profits.

So everytime one of these empty chairs raises any kind of concern for our veterans, you can rest assured, it's all bullshit.

(We have 65K homeless veterans in America by the way, and more suicides by the day)

We in Canada are no better. We officially through the VA have just under 1000 homeless vets. So if that is the official number it is a given that the real number is much higher.
But veterans have been treated like garbage for a longtime now. Just blows my mind that the emergency services who responded to 9/11 have been fucked like they have. I mean America has been in non stop war ever since because it was such a devastating thing. Yet they let these heroes rot.

Cheers :)

Me too, man. "We can't afford it" is not an excuse. Cut the fuckin billion dollar military budget, don't order a couple F35s, do something, anything, these people deserve whatever they need. You can vote to increase the military budget by billions per year while a fraction of a percentage of that would cover this issue forever.. our government is made up of self serving individuals. Our institutions have ensured it to be that way. How much pressure can the cooker take? Idk, but it feels like it's getting loud..

This capitalistic bitch of a country ditches disabled veterans the same way. In fact here once you are out of money you can get fucked. Those 9-11 survivors are costing us money!!!!! It’s that point blank rotten.

Let's actuate the example

You and I probably hold opposite political views. Would you be willing to pay more in taxes to ensure 9/11 responders get all the adequate healthcare they need?

I wish my tax dollars weren't given away to Israel and Saudi Arabia too but ALL of our senators and representatives are bought and paid for by foreign gov'ts and corporations. They have to vote the way they are paid to vote and those foreign gov'ts get their bribe money back in the end when the US writes up their "aid" packages. Our free market congress has to be one of the most corrupt on this earth.

People who join the military and blindly follow orders to kill and maim others, destroy property and advance corporate interests / global empire etc are hard for me to muster sympathy for and call "heroes".

I think the proper term would be "Dupe", because "useful idiot" might be impolite.
