Well, a new wrench thrown into the decision making process. First, the Hulk is taking to the manifold like a champ. stretching perfect to be able to hook between nodes, etc.
IMG_9494.JPG
But you might see an issue in the group photo
IMG_9495.JPG
The Skywalker is apparently too stocky to bother with a manifold, there is just no stretch, and NO flexibility.
I was not even hooking them yet, and was gently prying the two tops apart - and one snapped off.
IMG_9493.JPG
So now I have one that looks like I can veg-manifold for a while longer, and might end up an 8-top, and one that I'm ready to flip and say to hell with it so I can go ahead and try some of that strain sooner. Since I have more seeds of each, next grow will be better planned, and having two strains ready to try sooner sounds better and better.

I am already having height issues with the NL because of that damned raised floor in the flower room, so I am just flipping everything tonight at 7 when the lights come on. I can pull the NL back into this room and have more height for these, and more room for the 4 crowded skunk plants. Then as soon as the contest plants harvest I can rip that room apart and fix it.

Best I've done, and it was all down to it being healthy at the end so I could let the second growth go instead of watching the dying leaves creeping towards the buds. I already effed that up on my 4 contest plants.

Works out good though. I decarb about half my weed. Makes deciding which gets smoked a lot easier :)
mine is doing the same , leaves dying upward , is it just end of its life or something else that needs addressed ?

??? Start a page - post pics. as old as yours is it's probably normal. If you are thinking about harvesting you can think about pruning those out of the way too - like, now. let more light get to the under-nugs in the final stretch.

In an old cedar wardrobe that I rigged with an electronics fan and a carbon filter. Go back a few pages to my last harvest, I think I go through the whole process.

I actually have a small dehumidifier (pretty useless) but I put it in there just to see. I think that it helped keep the closet a few degrees warmer, which it needed, but with a 120cfm fan sucking air through it didn't catch much water ;)

The fan is like for an electronics cabinet or a computer server, and it is a 3 speed. 40, 80, 120cfm. I have a remote monitored temp/rH gadget in there, and adjust everything as needed to keep it between 65 and 75degrees, and between 45 and 55% rH.

Here was a bad shot of the flowers drying, but a good one of the components and how I rigged it.

The fan is under the black dishpan in the middle. and the dehumidifier is pretty obvious. I cut a hole in the dishpan, then foil-taped it to seal it.
There's a 2" hole cut in the bottom of the back for the extension cord to go through and that is the only air inlet.

Below that is just a tray I rigged with 120 micron screen, and another tray under that to hold parchment paper. Any goodies that fall off the drying leaves get caught ;)

It stays in there 5-7 days.

Everything is now in flower, and I'm not dropping another seed until I clear a room.
The big room just has the contest plants, probably to mid-June
1.JPGThey all got fed, as did the NL - which is looking pretty fine
nl1.JPGI have been pruning fans as needed, but I am leaving all the "larf" - I don't think it will be. I think the 4 stems can support everything on there.
nl2.JPG
And I will get a taste of the Bruce Banner and the Skywalker OG sooner rather than later ;) I should get 7 fat buds - and not much else. The Hulk may surprise me though. She's a stretcher and mostly sativa, she'll definitely put out a few more nodes in the stretch.

Didn't actually notice how tall this was until this morning when I pulled the other two to feed them.

If it isn't obvious, the two little ones are afterthoughts now. I'm growing the NL, and those are there too ;)
I learned stuff about both strains, but they spent their whole life with my bad pH pen issue until about week 4.

I treat Mondays as days to do crap I've been putting off - so today was Monday with Memorial Day yesterday. I haven't done a thorough analysis, but the couple of highlighted ones are products that are so similar that they are interchangeable, and I will only buy replacements for the ones in blue. The Boomerang looks better than the Flower Kiss because of the myco's - but if I'm getting them elsewhere (Microbe-brew) then the flower kiss is basically the same. Don't know about the specifically noted salt (Na) though. That might cause those two to flip flop. Also, the Flower Kiss is a foliar spray that you can add to the soil when the pistils start instead of spraying.

My goal is to figure out the best of what I have - whether it's a whole system or parts of each - and then create a 'non-weekly' schedule based on pot-size (one for 3gal one for 5gal)
that is based on actual plant stages instead of calendar dates.

One thing I want to try is pulling some of the non-NPK supplements and use them on the non-feed weeks. Or do a feed-supplement-water schedule.
The main thing is that the pH is a bitch to adjust if there is almost no ppm in the water as a buffer.
Nute contents.JPG
Initially the Dyna-gro looks the most complete with the fewest components, The Gen Hydro is the most concentrated, but lacks a lot of micro-nutes. Neither of those has the myco's and stuff, but I'm sure their 'extra' additives do
that I haven't purchased. So if the Dyna-gro full line set has the other stuff it might be easier to switch to that, but in the interim use the Microbe-Brew with it.

@Dyna-Gro & @Big Perm, ;) your thoughts would be appreciated when you have time. Also wondering why the dyna-zyme is listed on the schedule to use only 3 times during the grow, but on the container is says "use in every gallon of water throughout the growing season"

You also mentioned that you can't over-feed organics in your video. Does that mean that cutting the Big Bloom in half with the rest is unnecessary? - Thanks!

Is your Dehumidifier model useless in flowering? My humidity spikes at night and i was going to buy that exact dehumidifier for my Wooden Cabinet. I was wondering if it would work or not because of the high airflow created by the 4in Vortex outtake fan. I figured the dehumidifier might be useless because the outtake sucks all of the air and turns over so quickly? what is your experience with it?

It ends up with some water in it, but I think the basic principal we use of "many cfm" defeats the purpose.

Kind of similar to closet or tent growers buying co2 supplements. Without a tank, a regulator and something to monitor ppm in the room the sheer volume of co2 you would need to produce to maintain any kind of CO2 level change is astronomical. Again - cfm. That and the fact that plants mainly use co2 in sunlight, so having it supplied just at night when you could have the fans off won't do anything either. I think a small dehumidifier in the grow room is just catching raindrops in a storm.

That said, co2 works, and the dehumidifiers do too. I think a better idea would be a house model stuck in the room that your grow area is sucking air from. I've been looking, and $100-$200 is the low end on those so I am hesitant. I know the bigger ones also exhaust a lot of heat.

For now, if I see the rH spike I just bump my exhaust fan up and cross my fingers.

Non weed post - kind of.
Having the grow room nutes issue, the broken flower issues, crowding, etc. I am realizing that I was partially defeating the purpose of growing weed.

I don't sell it, never have blow-out parties, etc. It keeps me off the scrips, and the growing itself is therapeutic. All the worrying about self created issues ("lets try something stupid that we haven't done yet!" :wall: :bigjoint:) with the contest plants, sorting through 3-4 different nute lines, and so on is just dumb.

So for me, the "nute list" was part of sorting that mess out and getting past the pretty labels. Moving the plants around and getting that situated helped too. I have been fighting the symptoms instead of the disease (lack of knowledge ;) )

If it helps anyone else, break shit down to the basics. Most of the nutes we add are to make the plant "better", not make it grow. Adding too much of the junk to make it better makes it worse - duh. And when all else fails - roll a fatty.

I agree. KISS is the best method of growing. Once you get the basics down and can grow a healthy happy plant from start to finish THEN you can start playing around with nutes and more advanced methods of growing. I went way overboard in the beginning and my plants suffered, but now that I'm using only a couple nutrients and a simple medium my plants have been looking great.

Welcome. And thanks!

Yeah, same here. I actually had a big success with the first 'real' grow (good lights, ventilation, etc.) then stuff went sideways for a while.
For this Dyna-Gro contest I wanted to decide on a set of nutes in the effort to KISS. Then I went and used small 2 gallon pots so I could run all 4 nute lines, even knowing I would have issues by the end - just dumb. I flipped them at exactly 30 days so they might not get rootbound by the end - LOL

I add enough rooting junk that the pots fill no matter what size - all I did was speed up the dry-out, mess up any semblance of a weekly schedule that I was used to, then effed up trying to compensate for all that. And on top of that, had a pH pen going bad that I didn't notice for almost a month...

That said, THIS is what I was worried about???
IMG_9523.JPG
I'll pull about an ounce per plant, have 4 different terp profiles based on what they were fed, and a few of them are showing signs of fatness and going from a one ounce to a 2 ounce plant before the leaves get too bad. All in all, I just wasn't seeing the forest for the trees :) (pun intended) - in general, a successful experiment.

Oh, and the verdict so far is what nute line you use probably doesn't matter that much. Go for the cheap stuff as long as it is from a reputable company and you know what's in it.
I always use mega crop but trying out maxibloom this grow for flowering. Both super cheap and complete formulas. I also use 2 gal pots. They work good for small to medium sized plants as long as you can keep up with watering. At mid flower im watering every 2ish days sometimes once a day. Growth is great but you can't miss a day and let them dry up.

The 5 gallons are a hassle, but worth it for big buds - but I am leaning towards 3 gallon. Watering is easier since about a gallon soaks it, and 1.5 will give you good run-off. Makes nute-math easy, a full pot doesn't weigh 40lbs, and it dries/needs water about every 3 days. You can do a feed /water nute schedule and just plan 6-day 'weeks' for feeding.

I got the Gen-Hydro set on a tip, and based on the chart it has the most bang for the buck. It does lack a lot in the micro-nute area, but I have plenty to figure out what works with it best. I got the liquid KoolBloom as well, when I saw that my quart jar of "KoolBloom" from the 3-pack only gets used once at the end. That'll last for years...
