Tried going on Botanicares site Friday and couldn't find the PBP page. Called the toll free number and find out they've been bought by Hawthorne Gardening Co., who is owned by Scott's. :finger: They know nothing about the botanicare. com site and tell you to use theirs. Must've just happened, I was on the botanicare site about 2 weeks ago. Time to find a new nute line.

yup old news but nothing changed till now old mix gone new mix just coming out now. been running botanicare 10 plus yrs iam going back to dry salts.my hydro store been out of stock for months.
Nothing wrong with dry salts. I used Botanicare years ago but stopped because it was just costing too much. I was running flood and drain at the time. I switched to a three part product called VitaGrow which is just repackaged calcium nitrate, monopotassium phosphate, and a micronutrient blend. I ended up growing better plants while spending a fraction of what I was on bottled nutes.

It's not a bad product. If I went back to bottled nutrients It's what I would use.

I would normally say chemical salts are chemical salts but Botanicare isn't just chemical salts. It's like a hybrid with the fish, guano, and some other things.

The pbp would be labeled organic i they didnt use a chemical process to make the potassium more available. It has no processes fertilizer salts.

The kind line is salt based but with added seaweed.

I had excellent results with kind too. Just have to mix from 2 bottles as the base is only cal nit and the test is in the grow or bloom bottle.

this is what i liked about pbp. close to organic and i could run it in hydro with excellent results. right before i made the switch, i had gotten a couple of bunk 2.5 gal bottles of various botanicare stuff, and it just soured me to bottled nutes in general and pushed me towards making my own. they werent out of date or anything, maybe just a bad batch slipped through qc or something. i dont know for sure. dude at the shop i deal with had the same problem- no change in recipe, methodology, or environment, just shit results out of nowhere

my hydrofarm rep saying he can no longer get it?

Dont know about that but the hawthorn buyouts have changed what products are sold by which distributers.

My sunlight supply store stopped selling ocean forest amd now has a new soil called mothers earth groundswell.

I have been getting pure blend pro from a sunlight store or amazon.

Hawthorne owns Mother Earth. They own a bunch of companies. People would be surprised. Here's a list https://www.hawthornegc.com/page/signature-brands

Scott's is in a partnership with Monsanto, but still a separate company.

From wiki-
  • 1998 - Scotts entered into a collaboration with the Monsanto Company to apply biotechnology products to the turfgrass and ornamental plants business. Under the agreement, Scotts and Monsanto agreed to share technologies, including Monsanto's extensive genetic library of plant traits and Scotts' proprietary gene gun technology to produce transgenic turfgrasses and ornamental plants.

2018

"Scotts Miracle-Gro said it agreed to buy the nation’s largest hydroponic distributor for $450 million, a deal that will bolster the U.S. lawn and garden care giant’s position in the ancillary cannabis business.

Scotts said the purchase of Vancouver, Washington-based Sunlight Supply will boost the ability of its marijuana-related subsidiary, Hawthorne Gardening, to serve the hydroponic products market.

Hawthorne itself has bought up ancillary cannabis companies such as Gavita, which produces grow lights, and Botanicare, a marijuana-centric nutrient business."

Is there something else out there that's close to a direct replacement for PBP? I've always loved the product, but not a fan of the new owners, Scotts Miracle-Gro. I don't wanna do a 10-bottle regime to get what I get from PBP.
