2x2x5 Operation

Yes will probably be going with the yo-yos to keep the light as close as possible without doing harm to the plants, adjusting the light as needed. Would like to be able to go wide open but thinking may be too much for the seedlings from the jump.

I have been scouring endlessly for genetics in which I want to run, as I said I have some c99 seeds but want to try something new. I am looking for something that smells sweet and or fruity and tastes the same without sacrificing potency. Yield is important but I am doing this more for the enjoyment and satisfaction than anything else. I am in one of few states where marijuana laws are still very strict and I do not agree with it. Seeing addiction everyday to prescription medications, heroin, etc opens my eyes even more to the ignorance of a lot of people and their hatred for the plant. Anyways that’s a whole different topic and we are not here to discuss politics.

How’s everyone’s operations going?

I kind of feel like I'm not qualified to give advice, I'm a complete noob to indoor and artificial lighting. But here's my take...if you plan to use yoyos for adjustability, then just raise the light as high as possible when they're in the seedling stage, as that will drop the par intensity at the plant level. Once they're established, you can lower it as necessary, although you may find that you don't need to keep such an intense light as close to the canopy as one might think in such a small space.

I'm running my light as far up as possible, about 5 inches below the top of the 2x2x4 tent I'm in. I have an external potentiometer to control the light, and I've had it set around 50% the entire time for an output of roughly 240 watts.

Here's a pic of my grow as of yesterday. Been on 12/12 for a week. I need to work on taking better pics...

Damn nice man healthy looking. What strain are you running? Sorry for the long waited reply lol. Been busy working 60 hours a week. My QB will be here tomorrow and am very excited. My tent and everything pretty much ready to go but I’m really taking my time and making sure to be careful. Really interested in a few strains from black skull seeds and really can’t find much on them but when I do it’s always positive. Any thoughts on them or experience? I have the C99 and I have two seeds I saved from a bag of some real nice stuff I was lucky enough to get. Really thinking about running the two bag seed and hopefully get lucky with a beautiful lady.

Thanks. I'm running some seeds from Honest Genetics, on the left is one called Oregon Orange Punch, it's a Purple Punch cross...and on the right is his Scarlett Johannson, I forget what that one is made of.

I haven't run anything by those guys, so I can't comment. I'd suggest checking the seed and strain review forum here, might be some info for you.

My setup is a 2x2x4 tent, so yeah the dimensions are pretty similar. Getting cramped in there with 4 plants though.

Nice i wish I had access to more for sure (clones, seeds, etc.) I am kinda stuck ordering online which is horrible. Supposed to be this year legalized medically where I’m from which is hopeful but we are far behind other states. I am very close to Michigan and Ohio which are both moving forward at a good rate. Thanks for all the advice. I take it you live in Southern California?

Yessir, southern California. We have good access to clones here, but I've never gone that route, I just buy my seeds online as well. I like dealing with guys who are doing their own thing, like Honest Genetics who I mentioned before, or Dankonomics who I recently picked up some seeds from. I'd rather be putting my money directly into their hands (figuratively speaking), rather than dealing with a behemoth seedbank like Attitude, or paying ridiculous markup at a dispensary.

She’s up and running. Thanks for the recommendation this thing is blinding.
no joke - you're not supposed to look at the lights from up close and in tents you stand damn close to the lights - wear shades if you will be going in there constantly and try not to look at the light 'to inspect' - do that at night with the bulb off and after it has cooled....

If that's a 260w hlg kit and your running in a 2x2 tent your really gona want to dim it down considerably.
Yeah it is 260w and Most definitely will be dimming down during seedling stage and until plant is really thriving I won’t crank it up. Feel like I could catch a tan with this thing.

Thanks! I just put it together and plugged it in and it lit up the whole damn living room and caught me by surprise.

Literally 135 kit is almost too strong for a 2x2, I say almost because its not as long as its 2ft from canopy and that's in full flower.
260 is a lot of light as im sure your eyes are now realising. Light levels that high in such a small space will only be detrimental.
Light burned leaves, bleached buds, dead seedlings. I shit you not, I learned the hard way. I use the same lights and my originals were v1, I imagine that's a v2?

Edit, not trying to be negative, just letting you know they are very powerful, I started at 18" from canopy with fully vegged plants and got instant negative reactions until I raised them to 24", so to run twice the power I do would certainly cause issues.

So did I make a mistake by going with the 260w instead of the 135? And yes it’s a V2. I also have a 4x4x6 tent give or a take a few inches but I just do not have room to use it right now. What’s your suggestions on settings from seedling all the way to full on flower?

Dim it to minimum and if you cant raise it more than 2ft from plants then put them at the edges where light intensity is slightly less.
Once they have a few sets of leaves more them closer to the centre in veg, I wouldn't crank it up past 160w in full flower personally. Not in that space anyway.
I would upgrade to a 2x4 or 3x3 tent if it fits in your closet then get the most out of that light.

Full power on my light would equate to approx 65w/sq ft. Socaljoe you said you’re running a 480 in a 2x2 at 50%? So 240w puts you at approx 60w/sq ft. You’re plants seem to be thriving. Any issues you have experienced at all besides what you’ve already stated? I’m not saying I should run full blast by any means but I do want to optimize my set up and produce effectively and efficiently. I think I may have read somewhere someone said they recommend 30-40w/ sq ft with these quantum boards. Just a lot of different things I’m seeing and being told. Confusing and I realize what works for one person may not work for another. You guys have been more helpful than you know. Thanks again

Got my tent sup and testing it at full blast to get idea what temps and such will be like (without plants obviously)

My number was an estimate, I don't actually know what my light is running at until I plug it into a kill a watt meter. I'm going to plug it in tonight and see where it's at.

Let me take a second to put this out there...I have no idea about ideal light intensity, I'm just winging it and hoping for the best, so keep that in mind when I offer my input. So far my plants have been doing great, no light bleaching or burning of top growth, so what I'm doing seems to be working fine, but I'm pretty aware of how ignorant I am to this indoor growing world.

Edit: my light is pulling 250 watts at the current setting.

I have a question. Is it safe for these quantum boards to touch the sides of the tent? Mine just fits and with the negative pressure touches slightly. Thanks
