Help choosing most efficient cobs

Guys, I have a tastyled t2100 lamp with 2 x cxb3590 for my 2x2 but now I need to build a new lamp for my friend and I really don't have time to research new leds as I did with my previous choice(which I think worked great for me).
Can you please help me with choosing the most efficient cobs? I'm thinking to go with vero29 se 3500k 80cri (BXRC-35E10K0-C-7X-SE) or "non se" model (BXRC-35E10K0-C-7X). They 4 of them will be running at 50w with Mean Well HLG-185H-C1400B + angelina reflectors. I wanna build a lamp similar to Tastyled T22.

Are there any better cobs for 2018?

Should I mix 2x 80cri and 2x90cri? (growing autos so vegging is more important and I do not want the strech)

Is active cooling a neccesity or should I go with passive with good radiators?

Thanks :)

You want most efficient or best price/quality? I think luminus cxm22 is pretty decent in their price range..

Id also not use active cooling only pssive (maybe a clip fan on top of everything just for some airflow).. active cooling is good to push light harder however a failure and you fry your light.. a risk to consider..

@CobKits may be able to help better

Let's say I want to spend ~130$ max for cobs alone. What cob-driver combo should I get?

@Airwalker16 - thanks, I didn't know that. In that case which meanwell driver should be used at what amps?

@Viceman666 - I missed info on Luminus but now I got it. Thank you

@CobKits , @Rahz Kevin, maybe you guys could help me?

I just wanna simple but precise answer what parts to get cause I need to order fast.

And how about that cri/temp?

80 or 90 cri and anywhere from 3000k to 4000k for veg+flower should be fine 3500k is good pick too
Look at this link for already assembled one or you can order parts separetly and build yourself too. If you run them at 50w the 120mm will do fine

vero Cs are great cobs but at 50W they are no better than $19 luminus

also make sure to consider cost of heatsinks in your purchase. heatsinks and holders are half the cost of a cob setup

Sounds great. You can run Vero's a bit harder than that though. They can easily do 75w if you wanna get a bigger driver.
I have 4 citizen 1212 gen 6 and when I dimm it to max the wallt meter show me 238 w....so my cobs are running on 70 w each right ...is this a good or better option is 5o w each 200w total

thank you

238/4 is actually 59.5watts. You're probably closer to like 57watts each.

luminus cxm22. Ive stopped stocking the 1818s as the luminus are just as good and cheaper

maybe a little less. that driver is prob 91% efficient
So for the Luminus CXM 22 3500k 90 cri, which driver and heat sink would you recommend.....and are you selling those as well, or just the cobs? And if not, any suggestions on Alibaba?!

I run Luminus, and just happen to run 2x4000/80cri and 23500/90cri, AND active cooling. got everything from CobKits,

the active cooling fans are awesome, they work great, and fits my system perfectly.

As for the Kelvin mixing, I think it works out great. But i have them hooked to separate drivers and can dim, so it allows me to have either kelvin at max or not, but i definitely want to add more reds for flower,

I personally think the whole "efficiency" thing is LED salesman snake oil. I mean seriously, is 20 watts really make that much of a big deal? Lower them, make them higher, dim then, whats the difference? More focus should be on the spectrum, and maximizing environmental variables to sustain success.

Try mix of 80 and 90 CRI.....
For me this is going to be a more permanent setup for a while, don't wanna invest over and over again.
Feel me........So that said......you say mix the 80 and the 90 CRI......both 3500K, or any other suggestions??.....just wanna have the best balanced setup for years to come.

Ok.....So you say the CXM22.....
18 single cob lights in one 8x4 tent.....each single cob on a meanwell HGB 60-1050 Driver.....passiv cooling heatsink from alipapa.
Which CXM 22 cob exactly......18x the 3500k 90cri...the 80cri? a mix of 3000k and 3500K???
Please give me your expert suggestion to have the best setup possible for years to come!
So i can make my move and get this going....
Thank you brother

each single cob on a meanwell HGB 60-1050 Driver...
individual drivers are a poor choice due to cost and low efficiency

at a minimum hlg 185 or 240 series. 320 or 600 are better (more efficient)

18 cobs for a 4x8 is great - you could use 2 hlg-600 drivers

no reason to mix colors

3500k 90 if primarily flower
3500k 80 if youre going to be doing a lot of vegging or your strain is super sensitive to stretch

ill take some pics tomorrow of my current 3500k 90 garden, i use it for both veg and flower with stretchy strains like glue and sour d, no problem
