LOL - I get great reception! or rather, my plants do!Just wondering what the reception is like on this? UHF as well as VHF?

And take that with a sense of humour.

I've contemplated growing my own kratom. Haven't heard of people having much success though... Good luck!HLG QB288 V2s in 3000k assembled by GrowersLights.
Haven’t run a cycle under them, but I bought them for my flowering space and swapped my Vero 29C COB kit out to the Veg/Clone closet. There’s a Kratom plant for reference. I’ve got High expectations. This much light is mean more or less for a 3x3-4x4. I have it in roughly a 4x2 area.

No way, small world! Hey nfhiggs, I was browsing Craigslist (we are semi-neighbors) for led lights and came upon yours, thought it was really neat to see nice strip lights on CL.LOL, if you're trying to get under my skin, its not working. All you're doing is giving me exposure - for free. Thanks.
Thanks man!No way, small world! Hey nfhiggs, I was browsing Craigslist (we are semi-neighbors) for led lights and came upon yours, thought it was really neat to see nice strip lights on CL.

Edit: do you know what strain it is?
Oh wow they're on craigslist. Are you going to purchase one? I highly recommend this beast of a unit:No way, small world! Hey nfhiggs, I was browsing Craigslist (we are semi-neighbors) for led lights and came upon yours, thought it was really neat to see nice strip lights on CL.
Is there a point to any of this? Because you’re not supposed to do this shit in the grow section. Go to TnT. Discourse is one thing, this is animosity.Oh wow they're on craigslist. Are you going to purchase one? I highly recommend this beast of a unit:

I mean how could it have been designed any better? I feel like one must have the most calculated, fine-tuned brain, in order to produce a product as stunning as this gem. You know what, I think I just realized I'm in way over my head here. If we've got fixtures like the 150WX4 on the market at such low price points, I think I need to reconsider whether or not my operation is even viable anymore. @nfhiggs I think you just put me out of business with that design bro. I don't think my stuff is going to be able to compete. I wish you would explain how you managed to come up with that so that I could learn from your superior knowledge and ways.
Yes, there is a point to it. This is me trying to learn about this design which I'm starting to think might trump what we've got going on over here. I'm probably going to need to make a lot of improvements, so hopefully I get a detailed explanation. Is there a point to any of this? Because you’re not supposed to do this shit in the grow section. You're right, it's a great design. Very clean and minimalist, exactly what one might need and no more or less. What's not to like? Although it's not a QB and this is the QB thread...I mean how could it have been designed any better?
Like I said, the people that get it, need nothing explained. You're right, it's a great design. Very clean and minimalist, exactly what one might need and no more or less. What's not to like? Although it's not a QB and this is the QB thread...
I have provided this thread with quite a bit of useful information actually, which could have sparked some great discussion. The problem is, you all decided to, instead of respond to my perfectly sensible posts, admit that you have no idea what I’m talking about (which I find strange, since you’re active on a cannabis cultivation forum and are growing with LED tech…), and refuse to acknowledge any of the very real things I’ve shared with you all here regarding this topic, or even try to research the topic to a point where you could formulate a proper response, rather than troll me while you claim I’m the troll. I’ll give you a run down, so that you can remember everything you chose to ignore, when you could have just spent a bit of time researching before instantly trolling me/cursing me/etc.lol I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t get along with you @CCCmints
You have literally provided this thread with nothing. Just trying to make HLG and others look bad.
Why don’t you provide us with something? Share what info you can about your lights and stop trying to shit on everyone.![]()

20,628 / 33 points = 625.0909090909091 PPFD
1000w HPS @ 22" is nearly 1000 PPFD in a 4'x4' reflective space.
So with no uniformity improvements, and 37% lower PPFD, please do explain to me what type of magic this unit is working. Or refuse to listen to science and data because you already spent your money...

I think its really funny how much people focus on 'PPF' as if that can help them figure any of this out. PPF is for efficiency, PPFD is to see if your diodes are arranged properly and producing proper photon uniformity. Lower efficiency diodes in a proper design trumps highly efficient diodes in designs like the ones HLG produces.
So what is their brand? The design? What even is the design? 4 boards on a metal slate? If they didn't invent the diodes, its not their technology, and they are just going to have to deal with people selling it for half the price. You can try to configure quantum boards in any fashion you wish. Properly arrange a combination of strips and COBs, and you will see the future.
Sorry if I offended anyone.
Those numbers can help you decide how close the light can be to your canopy, if you didn’t know. “According to science 1200 uMols is just overkill” – You post yours, I’ll post mine: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23572895#
Numbers are important, much morose than you guys seem capable of understanding. Even when you grow, you need to collect the ‘numbers’ – but you guys don’t, lol. You just grow plants, take pictures of them, weigh the bud at the end, and then boom you think you’ve conducted a scientific experiment. Lol.
Why do you think efficiency is only related to PPF? You don’t think a fixture’s PPFD score is relevant to the overall ‘efficiency’ of its efficacy? You can put these fixtures in a sphere and note the total photon output relative to its power draw all you want, that metric isn’t the most important by a long shot. I will say it again, designing lighting systems is about distributing photon output. Hence the ‘D’ in PPFD. The efficiency of the available diodes on the market has nowhere near the variance that the efficiency of distributing photon output has in the market today.
I’d consider switching to a fixture with a 37% lower PPFD score to be a “wasteful practice” – but that’s just me.
They are expensive, for what they are. That’s why their price got beat.
Then you pay the markup...That's up to you. Doesn't mean you're going to have anything better than the people who don't.
The funniest part is the idea that 'quantum boards' will even be able to keep up in the long run.
"Chip-on-board LED market to grow at 35.5% CAGR to 2020. The global chip-on-board (COB) LED market will rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 35.51% during 2016-2020, according to a report by market research firm TechNavio."
That's higher than the CAGR of the 'LED grow market' as a whole, which is only 26.93% between 2015-2020.
Horticulture operations isn't even cited as a contributing factor to that figure. Automotive lighting, home lighting, corporate building lighting, etc. What's the CAGR of 'quantum boards'? COBs have so many more resources allocated to the development of them. They will become exponentially cheaper and more efficient in the near future.
I'm sorry if you fell for the bullshit. HLG's products will still grow great cannabis. They just aren't really at the caliber you guys think they are, and their future is becoming increasingly dim.
And relevant studies are constantly being published...? I don't see the problem you're seeing, but we're likely looking in very different areas of the internet and world. Is this one related to cannabis? Could this be useful? https://www.cycloptics.com/sites/default/files/No Utah State Spectral Characterization Study.pdf
Ok, so what is the confusion here if the video is right there...? Do you guys not hear the audio clearly, or what?
The new boards have shipped, produced by Samsung, so we've kind of strategically partnered with Samsung on some of our products, so they'll be making the QB288 V2.
How does that turn into this:![]()

Maybe someone should tell Samsung HLG is faking a partnership with them based on a simple agreement to produce some of their products for them, which are assembled in China.
Edit:
If that ain't a thread killer, idk what is. Think I'm going to email Samsung corporate and see what they have to say about this 'OFFICIAL Horticulture Partnership'. May also mention the new addition to the 'Quantum Board' market, Jerry @ KingBrite. Wonder what their response is going to be.
@Stephenj37826
Its funny, because you all seem to want me to disappear, which is a very real possibility. Problem is, instead of just taking the L and moving on, you have to respond with an insult. On the previous page, you'll find that you all were very confused by what HLG meant in their video, where they released that they were now working with Samsung, to assemble their boards in China for them. Then you'll see the bold statement where the claim was made by HLG stating that HLG is the "OFFICIAL Horticulture Partner of Samsung".
Now its not certain, but there is a chance Samsung won't approve of them making a false statement like that, as some of you have mentioned already in this thread. And upon learning that their boards are now being sold by a company with much more money and resources than them, for half the price, Samsung is likely going to have limited interest in continuing any type of relationship with HLG.
We'll see if they respond, or how they respond. This is similar to claiming you're patent pending before filing the application and being granted that right. Its not allowed, there are penalties for doing it, and it causes you problems.
I think its also funny how all of you guys' main complaint is that HLG has had their name stolen and now someone else is profiting off the name they built. What about this whole partnership fiasco? Is that not HLG proclaiming to be more deeply involved with a large company like Samsung than they really are? Trying to generate hype with Samsung's name by making rashly exaggerated statements Samsung never endorsed. Their relationship is this: Samsung manufactures some of their products in China for them, and HLG sells them under their trademarked name. And all of you are complaining about Chinese companies selling the same shit...
We'll see what Samsung says. Who knows?
I think they're going to learn there was nothing strategic about this 'partnership' at all. Quite the opposite, actually. This could end a bit worse for HLG than I think many on this thread are capable of realizing."The new boards have shipped, produced by Samsung, so we've kind of strategically partnered with Samsung on some of our products, so they'll be making the QB288 V2."
Haha, " Kinda". lol
Sounds like vindictive and wishful thinking. Good luck.I think they're going to learn there was nothing strategic about this 'partnership' at all. Quite the opposite, actually. This could end a bit worse for HLG than I think many on this thread are capable of realizing.
Good luck everyone.
It's been a while since I dug into it, but last I read, peeps were growing trees, but getting to a successful harvest was another matter? But you've inspired me to do some googling. If I could be self-sufficient when it comes to kratom, then my main meds would be covered and the only thing I'd still be buying would be kava.Red Vein Rifat Thai. They’re super hardy. Surprised you haven’t heard of people having much success.
