Everyone would, and they will be equal quality because its super simple, cheap tech that isn't hard to acquire. Can you imagine how cheap people like Jerry get those LM561Cs for? Its not hard to imagine he isn't in a position where he needs to skimp on the other very simple components which comprise this fixture. And he knows the demand already, HLG created it for him. Its a no-brainer.Personally I'd buy knock offs if there equal quality but they would also need to have good customer service. When i did have a issue HLG sent me new replacement board no questions asked which I much appreciated. So far I have 8 hlg quantum boards and the jury's still out in my opinion on them compared to other lights. There good lights just not the end all be all best light ever. I understand they are easy to copy and HLG can't patent them so it's going to be a free for all until somebody steps up and makes a more polished rig similar to the blurples in nice cases with fans and switches and all pretty or better technology like light your talking about designing comes along.
The future of indoor lighting isn't going to look like quantum boards or blurples, and there will be no active fans on the unit necessary. The systems are going to come with iphone apps with wireless connectivity to the fixtures and modules you can install to your other appliances to have a master controller application on your phone. Nice displays with rotary turn nobs and up/down buttons etc. The people who are going to take this throne are going to get a lot fancier than HLG, trust me.
