Here’s the story. He sent out ten free packs of his new lines, first come first served. Basically any rando with an internet connection had access to these “testers”. Now, he called them testers, but I call them free advertising. Just giving away packs to anybody isn’t a reliable way to get anything tested.
Then, well before the “testers” had even been sent, Gu puts them up for sale at full price. He said that it was because people complained about not getting testers. Problem is, he had done the exact same thing before with previous crosses. Put up testers, but well before anyone could actually complete a grow, he had them for sale. If it happened once, maybe he could use it as an excuse. Twice, that’s just how he works. Use the allure of free testers as advertising, bring people to the site, and then just sell them for full price.
As for completed grows of these new lines, I’ve seen none. There are a few crosses on his site right now not listed as testers, yet I’ve never seen a grow of them. Lupine Lime, Peacemaker, Ghost Town. As far as I know, these are brand new lines, and I’ve never seen a grow on any of them.
And again, he released a ton of Monster Cookies crosses a couple years ago, they all hermed like crazy and caused a big fuss. If Gu tests his crosses, I’ve seen no evidence of it. I would be happy to be proven wrong on this.
