NFL denys free speach to it's players

It is pretty incredible really. The NFL is embarrassed with the spectacle or maybe Trump called and threatened a 25% tariff (his favorite number for everything). But it is kind of hard to feel sorry for millionaires playing a game. I do love the sport. It fills my Sundays for 20 weeks in the fall.

And I do understand the level of commitment required to play at the NFL level. MONSTROUS level of commitment. Diet and training for years.

I kind of liked the whole solidarity thing. It also helped drive good conversation with my son who needs to understand the stupid that is in the world. Not everyone is colour blind like I am. There is a lot of disparity among the races.

I would think hockey would be all over it too. It took a long time for races other than Caucasian to be pro. But times are a changing. And maybe they just get to smash it out on the ice.

I'm more of a baseball fan but do follow football. This is all about the billionaire owners. They made this rule without even discussing it with the players.

I never saw the reason for anger and shock by fans when black football players took a knee to recognize the Black Lives Matters movement. Personally, I think it would have been better if the owners just let players decide for themselves but they were afraid of a backlash by angry Trump fans. With this rule, they can now experience backlash by the more numerous angry majority. Just goes to show you that 32 billionaires are really just 32 average Joes who have the same racist blinders as most wealthy white men.

I'm hoping that the players can come together on this and decide what statement they want to make together.

Well that is probably it in a nutshell. Easier to squash it than face it.

i'd respect the players if they went on strike.
