Buds quality LEDs VS HPS

I am painfully trying to stay within 3.5'x7'
I used to be in a 5X5 tent but recently expanded into the entire corner of the garage. We've got a double length garage stall and I blocked it off with shelving and blackout curtains. Gotta leave the bottom open for airflow.
I may set the tent up again when I start ornamentals for spring. I've got a guhzillion dianthus seeds from last year... 8)

I have been reading a lot of stuff the cob company guys are posting and I think the results require a lot of cobs. Like one every square foot run at very high efficiency seems to be best.

Someone please correct me if there is a better way.

Same reason I like 2 600's instead of 1 1000. 3 400's might even work better. More light from more sources from more angles.

I still would keep my plants short inside using overhead lighting. I try to maximize the light I use not stretch its capabilities.

I was just going to sandwich in the 315 but I keep thinking I want a new toy.
that is what I did 1 cob per sqft. To save money I'm running Vero 18s so each light engine (cob heatsink reflector) I have about $27 in. Add in drivers and and materials to build frsme and I've got a 500w actual draw over 4x4 that's so far gotten me 2.05 lb, 1.95lb, 2.22 lb, 2.10 lb, 2.28 lb, and 2.18 lb the 6 runs I've done under it since building it. So I'm running 16 Vero 18s at 1050 mAh for every 4x4 tent. Though I'm getting ready to expand again (jezz I love my customers and jezz they love $200 Oz's) and think I'm going to bump it up to running 600w in my next 4x4 build.
I don't actually have a bunch of 4x4 I started with one then I got a 10x10 and I've been building it up one 4x4 at a time

Fuck dude, you're killing it! I could only pull about 1.5 lbs in a 5X5 with a 600w HPS. :?

How can you even let them veg 3 weeks at that number of plants? I would start flowering from a rooted clone with that many..
No if your talking about flowering them right after rooting then you better be doing a true sea of green at 7-9 plants per square ft if you want to yield anything. This is where I get after the flower stretch they are maybe 8" at flip expect for my Pakistan kush they never get past 18” tall IMG_20171108_225019.jpg IMG_20171108_225440.jpg IMG_20171108_225231.jpg

It took years and years of doing it, plus I keep bomb berry in my mix those things yield bricks lol that's the secret to my yields is no secret, well tuned environment damn heavy feedings of nectar for the gods daily and just years of learning. Never stop learning reading absorbing and testing it in your real world environment.

Different spectrums are used for different crops. Full sunlight spectrums with a lot of blue are better for leafy greens.

A good red peak like an hps bulb has happens to be what works well for our buds. Add a little extra blue for plant health and a little more compactness and you got a Hortilux super hps style bulb that works better.

Seems the cobs have gone down in temp like 3000k is popular now. For cannabis I mean.
Built mine half 3000k and half 4000k, difference really shows in this pic though had to try 1IMG_20171102_000334.jpg 0 times to get it right lol

I started with a 3x3 veg and 4x4 flower. When I saw that wasn't gonna be enough I bought a 10x10 and ive been building it a 4x4 at a time eventually taking it to 8x8 I hope !!!

I've watched people buy gear in an effort to improve quality and it never works out.
If you suck at golf, a new set of clubs & expensive balls won't improve your score... :dunce:
Ding ding ding ding you win the internet for the day award. I could not of said it better myself. I get hate on my pics on here every now and then and that's what I tell them. If you don't have the knowledge or skills to tune their environment, if you see checking of pH a once a week thing, there is nothing you can buy that will fix that lol
What was that comedians line "Here's your sign"

Ran some math on your numbers. Estimating 46% efficiency if using an equal mix of 3000/4000K 80CRI Vero18D (?) at nominal.

486.4 watts output
Average yield is 2.1 lbs. = 952 grams
1.95 grams per watt.
PAR watts = 224
4.25 grams per par watt. First time I know of someone has mentioned passing 4 GPPW. Nice.

Meanwell current can run a little high but either way it would still be over 4. My best has been about 3.5 in hydro.

When it comes to grams per par watt, it has little (or nothing) to do with the lights and everything to do with cultural practices.
