2 week old from seed

I also made a peroxide spray today and misted the plants and soil. I read that if soil has been over watered and the plants stunts in growth then the soil doesn't have enough oxygen because it can't breath. I thought what the hell just to give it a shot. I found fox farms ocean forest at orchards for 8 bucks a bag, so I will pick some up tomorrow. how should I prepare the soil? just mix it with a bag of soil and perlite? better question how much perlite to a bag of soil? and since the plants are almost 3 weeks would they be ok to put into there final home which is going to be a 3gal pot? thanks for all the help homies!

Today is exactly day 14 from planted seed for me. Those do look small and lanky though. I am only using 2 4' 2 bulb T8's at the moment. I started mine with 3000k tubes to help with faster root development, then once I have 2-3 true nodes (above your single water leaf) I will throw them under a 4' 8 bulb T5 HO using equal mix 4000K and 5000K. I will also use the 3000k T8 for side lighting at this point. A good indicator, for me anyways, of over/underwatering is droopy leaves. You want to see them basically sticking straight out sideways. Also, in the future, just screen the soil if there are wood chunks. You was as much of that out of your aoil mix as possible. It's just a filler the companies use and can inhibit good root development. As far as soil perilite ratios, 5 parts soil to 2-3 parts perilite is what I use. Hope this helps and good luck! I will post a few pics of my babies for you later when I get home.

ok so today I went out and got foxfarms ocean forest soil, 8 bucks! if you live in the southbay area of los angeles and are looking to come up on soil $8 a bag. instore they were advertised as $16 and I showed them the internet price and they had to honor it!! there online price is $7.99 big mistake on there part, huge benefit on mine. I got 2 of them. I picked up the 3 part foxfarms nutes and some mycorrhiza to help with root development. I took the runt and added some mycorrhiza to some dirt at the bottom of the pot and then I took the lil runt and carefully allowed some of the soil to fall off and the roots were showing. they were browning.so I sprinkled a little of the mycorrhiza on the roots and put it back in cup and sprayed the soil also. I also misted the roots before sprinkling. if this one pulls through then I know where I fucked up at. I think I packed the soil to tight. im going to mix the soil with perlit and transplant tomorrow. I still haven't set up the closet yet. hopefully this week.

Hey, sorry it's taken so long to get my pics I said I would have. Been a crazy week at work. But here are my babies. Beans were dropped in peat pellets on 10-24. I would be careful with letting your soil fall away from your roots. The browning you mentioned sounds like to wet soil could be the culprit. I would jet them just sit for a few days without doing ANYTHING to them. Let your pots get light before watering, but just not overly light. Hope all is well in your room.

thanks for the response! I finally got the tent in the closet. everything is still the same. I have a 4" inline fan I want to hook up for intake, but I read that if temps and humidity stay pretty consistent its not needed. then I also read that's it necessary. but right now with the tent in the closet my temp is 82* and 53%. if it gets any hotter I think I will add intake fan. I transferred the healthy seedlings and put them in 3 galloon pots with myco sprinkled in the holes. I got a 24k gold clone that had lots of roots throughout the rock wool and also put that in a 3 gal pot. I watered the soil with about 1/2 gal of water per pot yesterday. I have misted the top soil. is it ok to start watering like that or should I water till it slightly runs out the bottom? got 1 more seed germing right now, but im going to start it off in a red cup. I want to try and save these because I have put a lot of time into them. they haven't died, so in my eyes they might still be savable. but I do got the clone that I hope goes well, I have never went rock wool to soil. its definitely been a journey so far, I never knew growing anything so dear to me would be so informative! I have the pots on the floor and the lights are 24" form the tops. im going to see how they respond to the manufacture recommended distance and if to much stretching occurs then I will lower the light. they were transplanted yesterday and they haven't been to droopy. so im trinking they might like they myco and ocean forest. 24 hours might be to early to tell, I don't know. thanks for all the info!!

looking at yours it seems like mine are 1 week behind. I think the setup is good now though.

1/2 gal water for seedlings is way overkill my friend. Lol I am in 1 gal pots and they get 1/2 a 20oz water bottle every 3-4 days or so. I water my girls in 5th and 7th week of flowering in 5 gal pots with a 1/2 gal at a time. Lol Thay are about 2' wide and 2' tall. Kandy Kush. I would wait about 3 days and lift the pots. See how they feel, then start with a water bottle. Water only around the drip line (outside your foliage). Those seedlings don't have crazy big root systems yet. Also, if you are using organic nutes, you never want runoff! That is only for salt based nutes. I am still new myself, but have learned a lot from my mistakes.

Go get yourself a moisture probe. Those things are pretty legit when it comes to letting you know how moist the soil is. Just water when it hits red. You can even let it dip below with no problem. I actually try to keep it right in the sweet spot. Works well for me.
As far as the little flying bastards you can easily get rid of those using just fly strips and letting your pots dry out.
I suggest letting your pots dry out pretty well before watering them again. Let your root mass go nuts growing and trying to find water.

I only added that much water because the soil was dry and it was the first watering after transplanting. it should be cool though right?

thanks for the reply. I got rid of the gnats with go-gnats, so far I haven't seen 1 in a couple of days. I will look into the moisture probe.

Oh yeah, as long as ypu let it dry out a bit. In the future, pre water the pot your going to be transplanting into. It kinda takes away from the shock in my experience.

good looking out raven! they look like they are responding well to the new conditions. all the leaves are still kind of perky and not drooping. I think that if they were going to go into shock they would have already. I might lower the lights down to 22" tomorrow to see how the respond to that? thanks for all the help homie!

I DECIDED TO HELP THE RUNT TONIGHT. I PUT IT OUT ITS MISERY, I PULLED IT. I PULLED IT OUT THE BIG POT ON WED THE 8TH. WHEN I PUT THE SEEDLING IN A CUP I ADDED MYCORRHIZA. IT WAS REALLY STRUGGLING. I THINK I SHOULD HAVE LET IT GERM A LITTLE LONGER, LIVE AND LEARN. BUT WHEN I PULLED IT THE MYCO WAS ALREADY GOING TO WORK ON THE ROOT, BUT THATS ALL IT WAS A ROOT! PRETTY INTERESTING HOW THESE THINGS WORK. THE OTHER 2 PLANTS SEEM TO BE ADJUSTING FINE TO THE NEW CONDITIONS.

I'm going to attempt to start it in the tent with the others. I made a little video that docs the runts life!! im bored stuck at home, medicated!

What kind of light is that? I wonder if your not to far with it for what it is. Also, try to get pictures without the light on. The color makes it hard to see what they really look like. It kinda looks like your yellowing in 1 of the pics. Hard to tell though.

The light yellowing is from the old soil I believe . It was so packed tight I think they were suffocating. It was just bad soil. I’m going to take them out and get some pics. I’m going to find my camera and take pictures with that. And the light is a mars hydro 300. The basic one.

The yellowing looks to be either from over watering, or N deficiency. They can resemble each other however. The fact that your clytedones are yellowed as well indicate a need for feed to me. What are you using for nutes? Also, 140w led will work, but if you really want to get something out of these ladies, you will definitely need more light. It wouldn't hurt to add a few T5 lights into the mix. My 4' 8 tube is pushing over 400w. You could get away with 2 4' 2 tube fixtures and each 1 is just under what that led is pushing. You would end up with much better quality as well in my experience.
