DIY with Quantum Boards

Forgot to mention it wasn't working cause my outlets in the dinning room apparently don't work lol

It wasn't a big deal that the tab popped off. Just switched the boards around. Thank you tho!

@WeedSexWeightsShakes

One of my 550s came with one of the connectors broken. It was VERY EASY to solder it back on. If you are at all DIY capable you will not have an issue.

Also HLG responded lightning fast and made sure everything was good to go in case I had any issues.

Hey guys just got my light in wonder if i have to ground the heatsink.
All new cords that have gone out since this week have been pre cut to work with the cable joiner. cable joiner keep AC wires length short and when used properly offers enough strain relief that the AC cable wont come out easily.
Grounding for AC side. If you think the AC line can contact the heatsink then sure go ahead and scratch the heatsink and ground it there.
Heatsinks are anodized so they do not conduct electricity unless the anodized layer is scratched.

Question on my DIY build --- So i have 4x 3500k quantum boards, 4x 4000k quantum boards along with 44 (20 far red and 24 photo red leds) I have 2HLG-480H-C2100A to power the quantums along with 4 Mean Well ELN-60-27P's. I also have the bluefish controller with 3 breakout boards. I am having a hard time figuring out how I can install all 6 of my drivers to work with the bluefish so that I can dim each channel independently from one another along with custom startup and die down settings etc....

Thanks in advance guys.
I want to do what you are doing but lack of knowledge and finances are pushing back the start of my photo and far red channels. I will be running mechanical timers with dimming for all QBs, but once I do have photos, reds, and uv, it would be nice to run a slick controller. Check out what @VegasWinner is doing with controllers. He is an intelligent fellow

So here is my current build.. 2 lights.. Each lights holds 2- 240-1050A which when turned up will hit 300 to 305 watts at the wall for a total for 600 to 610 per light.. All heatsinks are slate 2s. The frame is cut to a 3 x 3 layout.. The boards are spaced 11" from edge to edge.. And when they are installed the outside boards will be close to 11" away from the wall..

I am trying to cover a 4 x 8 space.. I like to spread out the light sources as much as possible so this layout makes sense to me.. With the boards being mounted to a rack i am able to adjust their location easily with out having to build a new frame.. The only issue that i feel could hurt my is the driver selection.. I have read it over and over that 2 of the 240-1050As are perfect for a 4x4.. But the 320-1400 dimmed down could give me 700 or 175 watts per board which may or maynot be needed.. I just rather have more and dim then not enough..

Anyways this was such a pleasure to build, i enjoy these builds over the COBs as there are much less steps and no messy heat compound to deal with..

What do you think? Will i be covering the 4 x 8 adequately or not. Feed back is well come. @robincnn @Stephenj37826

At 75W apiece, those boards almost don't need heatsinks...

Nice build!

Now link us to the thread you're starting about what you're growing with 'em!
Maybe i should.. I normally post everything on IG @greengrassgrower but IG seems to like bud shots over LED builds. So i think i will.. Those lights will be up in the next few days.. Here is what has already been replaced. Before the LED enlightenment this room held 4 DEs.. Hope i can keep up the same yields. Enough about my spot until i make a thread..

Cheers,

I'm not expecting 600W of quantum boards to match, what, 3kW of 6/750 DE HPS? Unless they were over a lot more than just one 4x8 space?

I think they'll be serious competition for up to one 1150DE over the same space, however.

Yes you should ground any electrical fixture doesnt matter the voltage or voltage type. Especially with mean well drivers they will auto detect a dead short and shut down till the short is cleared. Always always always ground your fixtures

Specially when your like me and bump your head on every damn light in the flower room when you water lol, plus im a stoner at heart and if i fuck something up i can fix it and not blow it up you can weld with 115 v dc so better grounded then ungrounded
