So while I was waiting for everything to start showing up, I started digging around on the internet to find out how to raise and lower these things... Ratchets just ain't gonna cut it nor will chain too old.. too slow... 4 hanging points is a bit of a pain to raise and lower ones lights... SO..... I started looking at different kinds of lifts and things of that nature and i came across a few different idea's.. I have to build a device that lifts each 11' light bar and they way 60lb when fully dressed with LEDS and water inside. Not to shabby!!!!!!!!!! If you're knew here I have twelve of these light bars to hang..
1. Boat cranks and pulleys( 0V, simple and cheap) $50 per light bar
2. Actuators and pulleys( medium price, 12v, and controllable wirelessly) $240
3. Winches and pulleys (12v, medium to expensive, hard to wirelessly control) $220
4. "Mylifter" Smart hoists (too expensive, but hella cool, 120v, low lifting capacity) $475
5. Garage Door openers and complex chain to pulley system (A lot more fabrication, and expensive, easy to find used parts) $
6. Garage attic lifts (expensive, 120v or 12v, free controller included,DIYable though!!!!) $1000's
7.Sunwinch's ( cheap pieces of shit, made by a great old school company) $400
8. Garage Gator $200
Well I chose a combination of number 6 and option 8. The reason being because I have four points to pick as you can see in the picture below and that makes all these options expensive. Even cheap pulleys are expensive.. And they don't like to pull, and you got wires or rope running all over the ceiling.FUCK THAT! DIY TIME HOME BOY!
Stay tuned light lifter build coming!
