Which Chinese LED Are the Best? - Comparing Mars Hydro, Viparspectra, and Roleandro

Why even come onto a thread asking a very specific question and instead of offering valid input on the topic attempt to make it about cob's and anything else is a waste of money?
Nobody said anything else is a waste of money, on the contrary I mentioned HID being a better option than cheap panels if his budget is capped and if he could squeeze a bit more out, check out the COB kits out there. In most other scenarios the feedback would have been welcome...

It's like walking into Home Depot with a specific tool in mind and then the associate says oh, it turns out for that money there is a better option that came out recently. Would you say f you or be open minded and grateful that he/she took the time to provide you with potentially better options?

I personally feel sorry for the peeps who drop hundreds on cheap panels because either their ego prevented them from considering the feedback of others or nobody took the time to explain other options to them.

Seems like a long winded debate- Have 2 viparspectre 300 in a 2 by 4 by 5 tent with 4 auto White Widows @ week 4
Also 3 600 wt HID in 4 by 8 tent
So far, very pleased with $89 per LED w/3 yr. warrenty and 5wt. led
Proof is in the grow- Big plants are 17 1/2 " after 4 weeks

T5 is probably better than cheap leds.

I say this because I had an older mars /That went in the garbage.

Newer t5's are about as efficient as hid.

I just don't see the point of cheap leds. For me it would be cob or t5. I am going cob but will still have t5.
I tried LEDS ( mars hydro, cree 3070. vero 18) and went back to T5s. just did not get the quality with LEDs. yield was about the same for the same input power YMMV

I had one 600w viparspectra and though it provided plenty of power, it did not provide coverage. I considered selling my 600w and buying two 300w. Instead I opted to diy a set of cobs.

Currently, I use the viparspectra for seedlings and early veg.

Now that my plants are getting close to flower and spreading out due to scrog, i have supplemented with 4 24wt clip on Led (mostly red and blue) and they are covering the side spread-

if I decided to give LEDs another try I think I would build a light using the bridgelux eb series strip light.high efficiency and more uniform coverage

That was my problem. Currently the center cob is directly over the center planto and the side cobs are slightly wide of the two outer plants. I just dumped in fresh nutes with bennies, and when the plants look perkier I'll be switching to flower.

I haven't looked into those.

I have however been looking into building a cob high output led hybrid with options for rotation in a 5x5.

Better spectrum options as well as better coverage.

Nice looking grow,Napalm-2 Plants? and what type?
3 plants. The center should be a sour diesel mix and the outer two are skunk #1 fem.

EDIT: Depending on how this grow finishes, I'll be growing some white widow on the next one.

I grow a variety of veggies and herbs together, and have seen Roleadro marketed to the tomato and green pepper set for a few years. I took a chance on a 400w for $100 and flowered out a mother and she delivered beautiful, sticky, ceilingless bud. My idiot son, who foolishly hangs with major inner city armed dealers, begged me to give him a few more grams on New Year's Eve so he could pull it out for his 'friends'. I wish he had better friends, but it speaks highly of the weed. I bought a second Roleadro.

I recommend the two 300w over the 600w for coverage, also. I have two Platinum LED p300's.

I've been digging around a ton for different lights this last week and trying to formulate an idea on which is best. Maybe you all can help fill in some blanks or correct things? This is via extensive digging for each on amazon reviews, amazon question answering, forum wandering, and reddit. Some could be wrong.

Disclaimer: I know, cobs cobs cobs, but some of us aren't really willing to dump 500 into a grow for just some personal pot :)

Here's what I've come up with so far, just comparing 300w:

------------------
Roleandro 300w

Positive:
  • High red spectrum = Good for flower
  • White light instead of blurple
  • $70 on Amazon
  • Galaxy Hydro is the creator, and they are pretty well known
  • 2 Year warranty (Middle)
  • Company seems desperate to get them out there as the new kid on the block, so great customer service often reported

Negative:
  • Runs hot
  • Low blue light for veg
  • The 2nd gen 300w lights themselves are still pretty unreviewed and new.
  • 124w actual power
  • No daisy chain for multiple lights
-------------------
Viparspectra 300w

Positive:
  • High blue for veg
  • Daisy chain ability in 300w model
  • A lot seem to consider them to be the most reliable right now
  • 3 Year Warranty (BEST)
  • Reflector
  • Runs cooler than the others
  • Infared LED's are apparently a good thing, can't find much non conflicting info on this

Negative:
  • Low on red light for flower
  • 136w actual power
  • At $90, they are by far the most expensive 300w light.

-------------------
Mars Hydro 300w

Positive

  • Relatively equal blue and red spectrum
  • TONS have been bought thanks to 2packs on eBay and cheap prices, so lots of success stories
  • New generation uses 5w leds, bringing it up to par with the other two
  • Lots of videos / guides to converting them to a Cob setup when they inevitably die
  • 2 pack on eBay for $140 matching roleandro

Negative

  • Runs hot
  • I haven't yet seen anyone say a bulb or 8 didn't burn out/die relatively quickly
  • 1 year warranty (WORST)
  • 135w actual power

-------------------
Each company offers these lights in a 600w variant (~240 actual w average)

They, of course, have completely different lights too that are worth noting. Anyone know much about these?

Vipaspectra's 450w (I've seen a ton of positive coverage on this one as a single light for a 3x3 grow)
MARS Hydro Reflector96 (Another I've heard great things on, but it's older)
Roleandro's COB 400w ($99, but they are the cheapest possible COBS. Still, good for electricity bill and $10 more than viparspectra for it?)
Roleandro's CREE Cob 400w (I'm guessing better than the other, but also more pricey at $179)
What's your budget that's where I started. What is the most you can spend on lights and how much do you want yield wise

I also have 2x P300 one in veg and one in flower and I love them so far, but I need more coverage since I'm doing a scrog so timber grow lights is where I went. I went with the 200w citizen 4 cob diy kit so I. An easily move the lights where I want in my tent. I hoping to get the kit by next week so I can put the cobs in one tent and both p300's in the other

I supplemented my 600w HID in my 4x4x6 with two Roleadro 400w COBs, 100$ a peice, off of amazon. I would say that cheaper LEDs such as Roleadro/GalaxyHydro, ViparSpectra, are somewhere between COBS off of Timbergrowlights and CFL T5's in terms of sheer performance....CFL's don't have near the penetration as even the cheap LEDs, and they do produce more heat, however are more customizable. While your more expensive COBs have even higher performance than the cheaper ones. I think comparing different brand of LEDs is very difficult without a direct side-by-side comparison of the two specific brands and LEDs at hand.
Happy Growing and good luck to all.

Greetings- been awhile- Finished 1st grow of WW Autos under Viparspectre 300 Wt. times 2 and yielded 12 Oz. on 4 plants; now for the disclaimer- I did have to finish them in larger tent due to height limitations and switched to 4 by 8' tent with 2 600 HPS, but they already had over 40 big buds on 4 plants and PROBABLY would have finished out fine( buds/ colas were already 6- 8 " tall and hitting lights or beyond. Just vedged 4 Pineapple Kush and , same issue ,had to move- my small tent is ONLY 5' , so always vertically challenged. Here's a shot of both for the non-believers in Cheap LED's
