FYI, Galaxy Hydro and Roleadro are manufactured by Shenzen Houyi Lighting Co: http://www.ledaquagrow.com/

They're pretty big, supplying lighting solutions worldwide. Nice solutions, but like other panel LEDS they have efficiency drawbacks. Can def grow some buds though if you can balance the heat tradeoff needed to push PPFD

I have experiences with a mars hydro 300 and the viparspectra 450. My mars hydro got stolen and i was doing a hybrid lighting with the mars led and a 400 watt hps. I gotta say the mars did kinda burn my plants so you know it was powerful enough. I am currently using the viparspectra 450. And i like the vipar more cause it's has the grow/bloom switch. I dunno about the end results will be but im am happy with the veg so far. My plants looks healthy and happy.

Do you guys use the veg/ flower switch? I leave both switches on all the time, veg or flower. I figure the more light the better, no?

this thread put a fire under my ass. i just bought a 3 cree cxa 3070 cob setup for less than $220. this is complete with misc connectors and brackets to mount it. ill make a build thread when i get my stuff.
Good shit man, I've heard great things about the 3070's. Not sure if it will help but here is a write up I did on my build.

I think I mention it in the post but in case I didn't, I ended up running them bare with no optics or reflectors in my tent. I've ran them for about 4 months straight with great results.

Fine and dandy.
Wasn't the point of the thread tho.
We all know about cobs. It still wasn't the question. Know what I mean? TO sits down to compile his stuff and then has a question partainung THAT.
Just deal with the question at hand not what totally difffernt light is better. Cos it always implies the TO is an idiot and needs lecturing. I know you didn't mean to, but I see this here in damn near every thread and it pisses me off.
He's not an idiot, nor is he getting a lecture! He's being given better answers to his (anyone's) needs....He's free to choose what he want's! WE'RE free to hand him some other info!

Now calm down and slug another Molsen and read another Captain Canuck comic, before you blow a gasket!

Good grief

Why even come onto a thread asking a very specific question and instead of offering valid input on the topic attempt to make it about cob's and anything else is a waste of money?

T5 is probably better than cheap leds.

I say this because I had an older mars /That went in the garbage.

Newer t5's are about as efficient as hid.

I just don't see the point of cheap leds. For me it would be cob or t5. I am going cob but will still have t5.
Maybe as efficient as HID lights from the 1980's but no where near the new HID lights, they are like half the efficiency. Not to mention T5's lack the intensity that HID lights have .

Newer T5s good choice.

Samsung QB board kit that is easy to connect up for $149 for flower. See the thread under LED lighting. Stephen's company sells the kit. Our friend with the weird golden death mask avatar is kicking ass using just one to flower.

Wal Mart T8 fixture $10.97 2 bulb set up. 2 Bulbs 6500 K $8. You may need two of those for veg. Total cost for veg about $40.

Total cost about $210.

a question was asked about china panels. it was then answered. now the thread belongs to the forum and is being used for a discussion that is teaching (me at least) about lighting. ime, this happens in most forums.

I use a 8 bulb 4 ft t5. the bulbs are double stacked so it is as wide as most 4 bulb units.
I'll agree that hid has better penetration. I can grow 3-4 foot plants easy with my setup with rock hard nugs.

I also prefer being able to mix spectrum and add uv. The mixed spectrum makes a better product. It yields fine. Last scrog I got 10-11 oz. It had problems and I could do more than that.

Let me say that it wasn't my intent to attack anybody personally, if it came across as such, then I appologize.
I understand what you're saying and it's a valid point. It is however extremely frustrating when the search function is used here and only 10% of what it finds is on the topic searched for, consistently. I think there would be a lot less threads with the same topic posted and the same question being asked over and over.

So, again, my apologies to whoever felt offended by it.

I use the 600 W Roleadro light here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IVQ96MW/

I have had nothing but success with it though I would consider two of them in a space larger than 2x2 feet. I've made some reflectors out of coffee tins and have supplemented my flower lighting with another 184 W (23 W * 8) of CFLs. Once the ScrOG fills out, I might put the CFLs underneath the canopy. I've always had better results with secondary lighting.
