Cyber Security...

Obama is gonna pardon Hillary and make it a moot point....
But you don't care either way right?
My guess is that Obama does it on the last day.

As far as the technicalities go, past presidents have pardoned people for things they were not charged with I believe, at least that is my understanding.

It also depends on what Obama pardons her for. There is the issue of the e-mail server and then there is the issue with the Clinton Foundation which is bigger IMO.

If she walks, she walks... Not going to change my life either way.

Having a president coming into office that is not a politician and does what he says he is going to do will certainly help with my life and everyone elses.

Someone here wanted to bet me 20 bucks this was not going to happen... WRONGO!!!

Trump is going to build a WALL!!! Mexico is going to pay for it!!! Our national cyber security is going to be strengthened. Obamacare is going to be repealed and replaced. The congress is talking about getting around to it in a year. They are sorely mistaken thinking Trump is going to wait that long.

I am optimistic, I am looking at real estate opportunities. Time to get some capital out there working again!!
That wall is going to cost $50 billion. Why is it necessary again?

Parts of it are already fence. About 670 miles of metal fencing was constructed along the southern border in accordance with the 2006 Secure Fence Act. That cost about $2.4bn. Todd Sternfeld, chief executive of Texas-based construction company Superior Concrete Products, estimates a full 2,000-mile wall could cost up to $50bn.

My sister in law says to wait. At least in my state the market is in a bubble. My home value rose 40k in a couple years. I know cus I just refinanced to pay for a roof.

I am considering buying property if the market bottoms out again. Rent in this area is twice the amount of mortgage payments. A couple years out if market looks good I will take steps to purchase additional properties.

RIU is a great place to go for financial advice. Maybe we should talk to the mods about creating a sub-forum for that.

AZ property is still cheap enough to cash flow with minimum investment. I would be looking at turnkey properties that 'should' appreciate. If they dont I still have the rent to fall back on. If the economy tanks then rentals will become even more in demand not less.

We shall see though, they also have trust notes at 9% investment which I can dabble in.

Cool. I have much reading to do on rentals and landlord duties but it is definitely something I want to do in the next couple years.

Any recommendations?

I’ve tried to talk to you and you call all my news sources (BBC, CBC, CNN, NBC, CTV, newspapers, Macleans, and the National Geographic) “liberal biased media”. You then post voiced-over youtube videos as your “sources” and say that is fact.
I don’t know how we can have a real conversation when each of us doesn’t respect or trust where the other person garners their information.

I was simply saying you should double check your sources for accuracy.

If you feel I took it too far, my apologies.

You treat me civil and I will generally do the same. Late at night I can be stoned and tease. It is just playful banter to me.

When I hear/ read 15 sources that say the same thing, I feel I have done my due diligence. My news sources are fact checked and have to print retractions when they get their facts incorrect. A journalist can loose their job for printing things they know to be incorrect and often they know things and don’t print them because they can’t be corroborated.
I’m not trying to be rude but where do you get your news again?

Renting is a pain in the ass!!! I use a management company so I dont have to keep track of late payments/evictions/excuses. Condos and other multi-unit properties have HOA fees but frequently take care of the outside reducing maintenance and issues. Single family homes are more $$ but more maintenance and issues as well. Just depends on what fits for you.

There are also other opportunities like Trust deeds where you are a short term financer for flippers and frequently get 9-12% return on your investment which is secured by the property. Then of course there is fix and flip and all kinds of other strategies.

I am going to start making excess cash so I need to have a plan on how to invest it.

She said she likes to talk. She didn't say she likes to listen.

It's the conservative mindset. Conservatives are driven by morality and living within an established social order. Compared to God and social rules, what have you to offer? The perfect description of conservative logic is: "it is what it is". Liberals like us are driven by secular objectivity and individuality. A description of liberal logic is "live and let live". We are offended when somebody tells us how to live or what to do without a good reason whereas Pie and her ilk are offended when people behave differently from her social norms.

And so, what you get from Pie are descriptive statements of the social order. Her belief without proof of pizzagate is an example of this. She sees liberals as immoral and so buys the pedo story without question. We live by questioning. And so, the lack of proof leads us to disbelieve. You try to reason with her to no avail.

Fake news, for example is most effective in conservative social media groups. Fake news intended for liberal groups is quickly discredited and doesn't get traction in social media.
