Yessir, I know exactly how that feels, so I'm going to give you a solid gold chiller recommendation; get the 2 Ton window mounted unit from Chillking. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, it needs 240V. It's also the last chiller you will need. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on chilling equipment of all descriptions, and I would save you a fortune and the heartache of losing your crops and fish due to equipment failure by pointing you to the right folks now.Well, I like running a little colder water anyways, to slow down growth. It's currently running @ 61°, which is fine now, but summer is coming. The freezer I have, has 400 ft of 3/4in hose, and still not enough. I need a true chiller for sure. I'm sick of spending moneys on DIY stuff that doesn't work.

My garden requires lots of bacterial matter to run properly. These bacteria are the reason for the nitrification process. This bacteria requires surface area to grow on, and K3 media, within the bio-filter, are designed specifically for the maximum about of surface space, along with moving around to maximize the contact with the most water.
As these bounce about dancing in the water, they hit each other and clean each other off, to give new area for more bacterial matter to grow. Newer bacteria is more effective in the nitrification process.
