@robincnn and I have worked hard on this new fixture. He is a partner in HLG.

I'll take a look at your math if you like but it depends on the drive current.
At 2.1 amps each, 493x CXB3590 = 36975 watts x 2.3umol/j = 85,425 PPF
50x 1000w DE = 50,000 watts x 1.7umol/j = 85,000 PPF
So it's a 400W equivalent instead of a unit that draws 400 watts?
Makes sense I guess.
hey guys
wanted to know what everyone's thoughts are right now on the most Efficient LED available today.
I want to replace several Gavita DE 1000W in our rooms we have 6 per room, we would like to replace and can't seem to decide what is a Suitable alternative.
any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.
First class 5630s by Samsung/Osram/Everlight i guess?@robincnn and I have worked hard on this new fixture. He is a partner in HLG.
From reading a few pages of this thread, it seems to me like your best option for now is to stay with DE thousies for now. I'd personally experiment with small (4x4) grows and COB builds, but economically, you're probably better off scaling with gavitas and coming back to the cobs in a year or 2.
I want some too. Where can I get them?No they are AR coated glass from China.
I'm curious as to how you would come to that conclusion.
Based on what I've seen on this thread, the economic side of the picture looks very attractive at a large scale.
My concern would be efficacy at scale. With smaller rooms and fewer plants, canopy management is less of an issue, ie scrogs and such.
With larger rooms and many plants, training doesn't scale well.
To growers that like to work with large plants and have tried COBs, how does a COB setup compare to pushing light further down on plants with tall colas?
Assuming of course that you're pushing enough power, say using the example setup that @Rahz quoted earlier:
At 2.1 amps each, 493x CXB3590 = 36975 watts x 2.3umol/j = 85,425 PPF
50x 1000w DE = 50,000 watts x 1.7umol/j = 85,000 PPF
No one said QD.Thread just took a boneriffic turn. I cant wait for the official QD thread that literally pwns the internet
So when can I get a rough one. Don't need certain cents or pretty colors. Our tar
No one said QD.
These boards are called 'Quantum Boards'. It is the name. Nothing to do with QD
I think the cob lighting scales up fine for larger plants.im in the process of changing over most of my 11kw flower room to cobs a few bars at a time.i like what i have seen and smoked so far
And i will add these are cree cxb 3590 run @ 1050 ma.im sure you can grow monsters under the same chip @ 1400ma or even 1750ma.
Still doing some testing on those boards. Working on heatsink designs. Sphere test end of this month. So when can I get a rough one. Don't need certain cents or pretty colors.
well i personally think anything over 50% is awesome compared to what we been using for years right lol.as for the reflectors,im not totally sure yet but i just think for taller plants you want the light going down not sideways.i have another 540w setup right next to this one with no reflectors so in about 7 weeks i will know more on this.but the par readings im getting are the same at 18 inches, the bare cobs win at 12 inches and the reflectors win at 24 inches.but at 12 inches there are alot of dead spots between the reflectors where par is only hitting about 300 and the bare cobs hit about 850 in those same areas between cobs.i run my lights up around 18 inches so im good i think.you run 2000ma and bare cobs i bet the par numbers are fuckin awesome at 18inches and 24 inches.@sixstring2112 Them be some fine looking ladies bro. I've followed alot of your posts, learned and laughed alot haha.
I'm working on a similar room as you by the looks of it. I was thinking of 2 bars of 6 pushing them a bit harder for every swap, say around 2000ma. That would still give around 50% efficiency and save enough power.
Was debating going with or without the reflectors though. You finding they help push the light further down into the tall girls?

Well congrats you two for doing great things for the community I'm impressed thelumileds and Nichols are performing that well. Where will be in just 2more years!!!Still doing some testing on those boards. Working on heatsink designs. Sphere test end of this month.
@Stephenj37826 came up with this idea and I helped him design/test. He would know more about release date. I think first week of Nov.
No colors for now. All white didoes.
Also in development. 4ft long bar. Razor 250. Not as efficient as the DIY Quantum Boards but great price. Shipped for sphere testing this week. This one will use Lumileds or Nichia 3030 package. Trying to increase the efficiency as best as possible within the budget.

@Rahz, where did you get the 2.3umol/j figure for this calculation? I've been playing around with the DIYCOBLED Calculator and I can't seem to get the numbers to match yours.
