It was! I'm actually on the other side of the mountains in Ramona. But looking at getting some land in Anza for next year/season . Temecula has some nice places. Went to buy a cow up there and felt like I was back in Monterey.

What's to think about! Share cropping is cool but owning the farm is much cooler! If you stop chasing the salmon alone, that would be a down payment :bigjoint:

It's the trade of for perfect growing condtions. No moisture for plant life. Two of California's biggest fires started in my town because of this. So I take hawaii vacations when I need that plant life feel :grin:

Your from Monterrey ? We lived in Carmel valley for a year when the parents owed a restaurant in pacific grove a few years back. Definitely the nicest place I could imagine living. Just so nice and quite and calm and most of all absolutely beautiful place to be.

I was up there for a year. Lived near laguna secca. It was pretty but I was missing so cal bad and couldn't wait to get back. But I was born and raised in the garden state (jersey).

until the well runs dry and you have to start trucking the water in at $80 a truck load.Where i live the well has to pump 1gpm for 24 hours to get financing for a home.Those remote areas have fire insurance rates 10 times higher that a home in the city.Not trying to bum you out just trying to get you to ask plenty of questions and know the actual cost going in.

Not bumming me. I am well aware of the issues you mention. I was paying 125 a load when my well broke last year. We had the well tested before we bought and are good for the forsee able future. My property had the witch creek and cedar fire burn across it. 2 of the worst the state has seen. I know about the fire insurance. Still not to bad. For the land I want to get just for growing I don't mind paying for water delivery. It will pay for itself. That or I'll get my own water truck and get the free water from home and deliver it.
