How Bernie Sanders lost black voters

As crazy as it would seem to me, there are more black people than I would ever expect in my area with Trump signs and stickers. Who can say what the hell that is all about.


And on a side note, I cant recall seeing one Bernie sign or sticker in black areas around here, only by whites.

Oh, now you are going to hurt the feelings of our resident bernie babies. Did you really have to point out that he failed to understand an important constituency? Bernie showed up from the very white state of Vermont and promised what he always promised. This virtual unknown shows up in North Carolina or Virginia and promises jobs just the same as he did in Vermont.

I guess at his age, doing homework was a forgotten skill.

I said it before and I'll say it again. You didn't like it when I said it then and you won't like what I say now.

Bernie showed up in many states a virtual unknown to most everybody. He wasn't prepared to make the total effort needed to win over a justifiably skeptical black vote. That article stated clearly that there weren't enough resources available to his team specifically tasked with reaching out to the black vote. It was unrealistic that an old white man from Vermont could just take the same message to the whole country including southern black voters and get them to switch from Hillary after a few speeches. Hillary had built a relationship with that key delegation in the party and Bernie didn't give his effort enough time or resources to convince that group of voters to switch. I think he did the best he could with the time and resources he had but it wasn't enough.

I voted for Bernie and was a supporter early on. I followed the election just like others and to my eyes Bernie babies complain about the nomination "being stolen" when the reality is Bernie lost. A big reason was that he failed to garner much more than 10% of the Democratic Party's black vote.

But really, I might as well be talking to a Trump supporter. You aren't listening.
 
It seemed weird to me when the Black Lives Matter movement broke up Bernie's rally in Seattle and wouldn't let him speak. The tea leaves seemed to say there would be no coalition for changing the Democratic party.

that was not a bernie sanders rally, it was an event focused on social security and bernie was there speaking at it.

You don't seem to understand what I'm asking you..

What does "make the effort needed to win" mean exactly? What effort did Clinton make that Sanders didn't? Aren't they "the same on 90% of the issues"? I guess that <10% is all race related..

Black people are traditionally more conservative, why does it surprise you or bearkat that they would choose the more moderate democratic candidate? It doesn't have anything to do with "making an effort", he let BLM steal his stage for fucks sake and stood there quietly while listening to what they had to say while Clinton is on record calling black people "super predators" and pandering to them with fuckin' hot sauce

What about the war on drugs, which was done by the Bush's and the Clintons? How big of an impact did that have locking up so many people, a lot of them black males?

Nobody cares that the Clintons took a huge part in that?

Bernie's campaign was very successful. He seriously challenged a Washington (fake) darling, and has set the stage for the poor and middle class to finally rise up and put an end to the rich making laws that favor only the rich.

Of course, this will take time. A lot of time. But he planted the seeds for it.

I think he may have cut the inroads for Elizabeth Warren to kick Hillary's fat, lumpy ass in 2020.

no matter how many misogynistic attacks you make on hillary, it won't change a thing. you will be calling her your president for the next 8 years, and mourning the loss of donald trump and his last dying gasp of outright white supremacy in mainstream american politics.
