How Bernie Sanders lost black voters

From the time he announced his campaign, in April 2015, his crusade against economic inequality galvanized a sleeping sector of the populace that felt left out of the political process.

But Sanders seldom trained that same impassioned rhetoric on the problems that so many black voters wanted addressed: police brutality, white supremacy, and the ways in which economic inequality is inextricable from race.

He appeared not to realize that you can’t simply deliver the same speech on economic inequality to a room full of black people in Atlanta that you would to a room full of white people in Iowa.

“For African-Americans, he never connected the dots from a practical perspective,” Tara Dowdell, a political strategist who has worked local, state, and federal campaigns, told me. “How would this measurably improve your life? And his colorblind approach to economics ignores the fact that this is the United States of America, where policy and economics and race are tied.”

Put another way, it takes more than marching with MLK to win black votes.

A message of equality and fairness, ignored. While Hillary was a chameleon, speaking to people, not for them, Bernie stayed true to his message. A message of hope, squashed by a lady with a pantsuit, and the media bought by the very people who put their money on hill.
Sad.

Feel sad for Bernie. It was his own fault.

According to one article.
Many factors brought on his demise, the largest being voter fraud and supression. Registration mysteriously changing, provisional ballots from legit voters not being counted, Bill Clinton electioneering at polling places. I witnessed attempted fraud at my local convention. Had I not stopped it, hill would have won our district. She didn't after we counted with 3 people.
The fact that he didn't pander shows his character, it's not why he lost.

All of what you say is well and good, but the fact of the matter is that you're not going to win the democratic nomination without the black vote. And he failed spectacularly at winning said vote. The cost of which is his endorsement of Hillary Clinton.

Well, I know plenty of black people who voted for bernie.
I believe in the south, many supported her because the news never spoke of bernie.
They same thing almost happened in wisconsin. Most hadn't heard of him a couple weeks before the vote. When an unprecedented media black out of your campaign joins with gullible voters, you settle for hillary.
That is what is happening, and that is her only way in.
Oh well, I survived G.W., I'll make it through her.
Bernie tried, and now he bows out. Oh well, I hope he retires in peace.
My vote is going to Jill Stein.

i've known about, and been a fan of, bernie since years before he was a candidate. he had been running for months as a candidate, and you never heard about him until two weeks before the vote?

there was no "unprecedented media blackout". sorry. the rest of us all knew about and liked bernie months or years in advance, not just two weeks before your state voted.

Plenty of black people voted for Trump so apparently nobody truly appealed to the entire black population.

Viewing people of a particular color as holding the same views could be racist.

Also, like nearly all politicians what Bernie said and how he voted were different things.

Bullshit.
Can you be real for one day?
I canvassed for Bernie. I saw it first hand.
He is not new to me.
I knew of Bernie for a while, but I care more than the average dude.
And to deny the media blackout is silly. He barely got a mention until the South was over.
How can you be a fan of his for years, and vote for Hillary? The 2 are way different. Well, they were until hill flip flopped!

I appreciate some of the things he said, but Bernie did say one thing and do another.

So, yes he DID show his character, unfortunately.

He voted "for big banks" when he voted to raise the Federal debt ceiling.
He voted "for" the USA's military empire when he voted repeatedly to fully fund the pentagon.
He voted WITH Hillary over 90% of the time and didn't he endorse her ?

I don't think you appreciate very much that the typical American is informed significantly less than those of us in here who strive to keep up with this sort of thing.

no media blackout whatsoever. this very forum proves it.

here is a post of mine from 2010 telling people to watch bernie's message: https://www.rollitup.org/t/sen-bernie-sanders-amazing-speech.390074/#post-4999919

here's another from 2012:

at least bernie sanders had the decency to filibuster it right. can't say that about cockwad rand paul or dickknuckle mcconnell.
hillary and bernie vote together 93% of the time and she has more executive experience. hence she is more qualified and gets my vote.

Lol, rollitup is obscure, and doesn't represent media as a whole.
8 years in the senate, she voted against him 7% of them time.
He has the experience, she has a vast network ranging from bankers to media moguls, who get to make the general public feel a certain way.
I'm very disappointed in Bernie, but I myself will not back down. She is bad news.
My vote goes to Stein.

No. Absolutely not possible. Liberals have said on this very site that voter fraud doesnt happen.
