McLellan says the government isn’t imagining a future of cool cannabis bakeries, bistros and bars

Sounds a lot different from the sunny ways bs that was pitched to get votes.
I'm guessing the lieberals are already sick of the job and are doing everything they can to get voted out asap
Does it? Or were you just not paying attention?

Because even before the election, the Liberals were saying they would no restricting access and increasing penalties for those selling outside the legal framework. Maybe you should just... I don't know.... research politicians and platforms before blindly voting for them? Nahhhh. Hope and Change!

I'm having a déjà vu here
I'm 100 percent sure I've already told you this but I didn't vote liberal.
So maybe instead of recommending research try using your memory or even better stop making assumptions.

do you ever post anything positive?
do you just slam people because it makes you feel better?
what happened to you?
if i were in your shoes i would try meditating to clear that negative mind and doing some things that make you really happy (unless slamming peoples views makes you happy-then that's another thing) in order to shake that dark cloud away

You won't get an answer from the troll...let me help:
do you ever post anything positive? No, I have a pathetic life and everyone must suck as much as I do.
do you just slam people because it makes you feel better? Yes. It is the only interaction I have with other human beings and it makes me feel important.
what happened to you? I was dropped on my head, repeatedly, as a baby. Mom said they were accidents.

“We want to de-normalize marijuana use, analogous to tobacco in that regard.”
I wonder when she'll figure out that we want to de-normalize political lies and oppression, analogous to democracy in that regard.. She doesn't want pot in bakeries or coffee shops but governments continue to hand out liquor licenses. Let's see if she can address the elephant in the room. Please tell us the costs of the medical and social harms related to cannabis and then do the same for tobacco and alcohol. Cost to taxpayers for alcohol abuse is $14.6 Billion/yr and tobacco use curiously does not give a dollar figure, but one can assume it is as high or higher than booze. Unless there is evidence that cannabis is at least as harmful, and we all no there isn't, people ain't buying what she's selling.
I can buy a beer at a coffee shop not that far from me. I don't know what the fuck this lady is talking about, but she clearly isn't even aware of the current situation for alcohol availability in Canada.

I'd be curious to see the numbers spent on people who smoke cigarettes. That would be interesting. Just as a comparsion to alcohol.

I couldn't find anything more recent than this. About the same as booze.
In 2002, tobacco use accounted for $4.4 billion in direct health care costs and an additional $12.5 billion of indirect costs such as lost productivity, longer-term disability and premature death.

Wonder how many billion we'll be saving in health care costs once cannabis is normalized?
That's a good point. Add in the cost of police, courts etc. that will be saved. Just found this...also from 2002 ( Harper couldn't be bothered I guess)

Facts and Figures: Marijuana in Canada To Addictions theme page

3. Additional Information:

Here are some estimates of cannabis usage in Canada. Clearly these may not be accurate; they were taken from several sources, including the 2002 Report of the Senate Special Committee on Illegal Drugs (which includes some remarkably innovative thinking); the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse; the Marijuana Party of Canada

  • Average age of introduction to marijuana: 15 years old
  • Number of people aged 12 - 17 who use daily: 225,0005
  • 10% of regular users develop dependency
  • Annual Canadian consumption: 770,000 kg.
  • Annual production: 2.6 million kg.
  • Amount of domestic production consumed in Canada: 30%
  • Number of grow operations: 215,000
  • Number of people employed in grow operations: 500,000
  • Price of 1 ounce of top grade product (enough to produce 20-50 joints: $250
  • Annual number of arrests for all offences concerning illegal drugs: 90,000
  • Number of reported marijuana offences (1999): 35,000
  • Number of reported marijuana offences in 2001: 71,600 (70% for possession)
  • Annual cost of enforcing marijuana laws (police and courts): $500 million

HMMM, corps cops. Thought they were the same. :hump:
Gotta limit supply and prop up the price somehow. Doing it on the backs of the working class is the time honored way! Bonus, private prisons and for profit 'alternative sentencing' generate even more revenue, while conveniently forcing customers to pay.

And another thing...

The people chose to elect the Liberal gov knowing that legalizing pot was on their agenda. So what we voted for was, in fact, FOR THE NORMALIZATION of pot. That was he whole fucking point. Obviously Anne needs to be reminded of that.
the only reason cannabis was on the liberal agenda is because they, like any political party, pander for votes. they could truly not give a shit. and like any good liberal, they'd tax the fuck out of it.
