Just as a side note about the company I deal with. They are rubbish for delivery times and customer service. These were three weeks past the estimated delivery time. Stay patient, chase them up via email and you will get them. to be fair to them, it could have just been a one off kerfuffle with my order.
Use trade assurance with Alibaba and your payments are covered.
Chinese customer service is practiced in a different way than the west.

Cheers,
Will

UPDATE:

Well I made my first fixture using the new pin heatsinks. 8 x CXB3590 CD @ 700ma and 12 x Oslon SSL hyper reds. There is a 21w t5 fitting in the middle for a reptile lamp but I am not using it at the moment as I am experimenting with one in another grow. If the benefit is not astounding I would prefer not to add the extra 21w of inefficiency. The grow space is lined with Orca reflective sheet. First time I have used it. The only draw back is for larger grows it is price prohibitive. The fixture is for flowering only. I hit them with 15 minutes of far red at the end of the "day" cycle. I made the far red light from a cheap chinese flood light and a 20w far red chip.

At the moment I have a super lemon haze, girl scout cookies, pineapple express and holy grail kush under this fixture. I elected not to scrog this run because I seem to be short on time these days. As you can see I am height restricted in this grow space. I am hoping to get away with staking them. They have stretched a bit but should behave now.

Awesome @Will Thayer !

In retrospect i would have ordered 40w heatsinks instead of 35w for running CXB3590 3500k CD COBs @ 1050ma
Not that it isn't working here, but it's just at the edge on very hot days.
@700ma with these heatsinks you are definately in the safe zone, unless your house is on fire :bigjoint:

New shipment of heatsinks came today. Unit price delivered to the U.K. was $7.58 (£5.35). They are rated at 40w for CXB3590 @ 700ma

wow man, that is one of the highest quality cold forging jobs I have seen from an overseas heatsink.

your build has all the cool shit that everyone talks about : far red initiator, a spot for a T5 UV. awesome stuff man. I wish you did videos! or maybe you could start taking some footage & ill cover it on my channel. i love your images, but I know a lot of people would love to see this light perform in video. cheers will

Growmau5, The Heatsinks are not bad for the price. The fixture weighs so much less than the extruded finned profiles I used previously. The anodizing was done to a reasonable standard but some of the sinks had scratches from shipping. The vender will sort me out on the next order.

As far as videos go, your very kind but as you can see by my sloppy cable management and slapdash approach that I am a long way from primetime. Besides there is nobody doing it better than you right now. I get all giddy when I see you have a new video up on youtube. How you manage to keep up with all that you do and still be one of the nicest and most generous people I have met on the interweb is beyond me. There are a lot of talented people in the world. To find an individual with both talent and grace is a rare thing. Your are a diamond my friend.

Cheers,
Will

I did have in mind the possibility of running the COBs harder in future (probably not though). SupraSPL got me all excited about maximum efficiency when I was still figuring out what was what. This fixture pulls about 230w from the wall.(minus the 21w T5). This grow space is in a loft which for 3 weeks of the year can get a little warm. I am at about the same longitude as you in the Netherlands but with poor U.K. weather.

Cheers,
Will

Yes, low wattage also equals more stealth, worth a lot right?

I just followed your link for the heatsinks, and see it's the same Jerry i ordered the sinks from.
Also they seem to have the ultimate rosin press :bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint:
