Id go with cmh if those are your only options definately.

Well not the only option just the simplest I believe. I can't really vent especially in the fluctuating climate being outside in a shed. My hps nearly froze when I ran air through it. 4 cmh have a larger area than my 2 600hps which is what I need. Covering 4x10 area when I complete the room.

Well bigsmo I wish you the best in finding the light that works best for you . I'll keep posting pics as my grow progresses and I guess we can see what kind of yield and quality these overpriced LEDs produce .

If anyone else is using Kind LEDs please post some pics

I think real world results should play a part in Decision making about grow lights , not a trolls opinion or utter distaste for something the troll hasn't used himself .

Billy I read somewhere that they recommend keeping the A-red at 75% during veg.

I used my kinds for about 15 months and sold them for almost as much as I paid, although I did loose three red's on one. what fueled my decision to buy SK's was observing in the plants when I added the CMH's. FYI: CMH's didn't get super hot, I felt it put out some heat the LEDs lacked.

I never thought of doing a all CMH grow, mine pull 288-305 from the wall I still use them in my flower. CMH need a good reflector, mine are crappy and could shine better. they are by what the WEB site says an odd 3x3, though mine seem to blob out with soft lines so its bigger albeit not ideal. I don't think, CMH's don't get the kudos they should, less not speak of the evil of induction lights, if you never hear from me again its because I dare utter the words themselves.

ash's top 5 LED's(cobbs)
1.SK
2.Optic lighting
3.Pacific Light Concepts
4.AMARE - SolarSpec.
5.tasty LED

no order, really but I like how simple and the high commodity components these lights use. if I was handing over money, I will however with help be building my own light sometime this year.

leds honorable mention.

marshydro: how many new life long growers have started here
kind LED: marketing still works...shamWOW!!!!
luminex: for really trying to make the science work ::claps::
apache: buy our lights or we will fucking scalp you fool!!!
cheap Chinese knock offs: thank you for making me stay up countless nights doing research.

Why arre the SK led lights the best in your opinion Sooled?
I didn't say they were the best, hence the "no order"

I had spent about 10 months on the pair of kinds, having been though lots of LED's and HPS combos afore that. a friend pointed out some shadows and tossed some gear my way. I ended up adding some CMH's: prior to the CMH's I was fine, other then my eyes, and struggling to mess with the countless combos of turning up and down spectrums, which wired me alone since I always thought I never had it right. the dummy settings left me feeling like I was not using the light to its fullest, I also had lost three reds on a unit and was in the mind set of selling them. I was really happy with the CMH's but I needed something solid and easy to work with for my personal grows. and I found SK, I talked to Brandan who was super sweet and sold me on them after a few minutes on the phone, we talked and decided the 400@120 was best for me.

when I got them, it was so easy, I didn't have mess with anything they hung perfect and my eyes felt better when did my checks. I felt like I had a product I was using %100 with little work. I know some person might be able to dial in a kind LED and rock it, but its not me. I want to lessen my work load, and make my personal grow as easy as I can, and the SK's allowed me to do that. and its not crushing my bill, which lead me down the LED path to begin with, so checks that box too.

IMHO I don't think any single light is going to do it all, I have always run some type of combo, which leads me to my next endeavor: building my own light the "Ashley light star 5000™"...with some help.

Interesting. You'll have to forgive me because I know next to nothing about LED lights and I'm just starting to learn about them. Are you able to provide alink to these lights that you are having some sucess with so I can also check them out? I typed into google SK LED lights and came up with a number of companies.

I'm even wondering if the screw in the fixture type of LED grow lights would work for me. I saw a bunch on amazon but I am looking for an led option for growing my seeds into good healthy plants for outdoor. That's where I am starting for the use of LED. If you can steer me the right way, I'd be appreciative. Thanks.

sorry SK is a acronym for spectrum King

yeah, I don't know about efficiencies-n-stuff I know they were pretty and they had low watts. PLEASE don't buy screw in lights, unless you have too, light has to have power that's why HPS 1000's rocked the word for so long by brute force. CMH's are and option too if your looking to keep your kilowatt meter from spinning off the planet.

I know color, inonicsphere angle of light rays, landrace time of light bent color spectrum stuff, but I'm not quite sold on if its a necessity 100% but I keep my red LED panels around JIC.

if your one budget, marshydro is not a bad place to start. maybe a mars 600 and 2x300 CMH. still well under 1000 watts. ballpark of $750 for all that. mars is dumping old models you can get 2 600's for $300 bucks you can kill a 4x4 fo sho.

Oh, spectrum king. I have watched their videos on you tube. Some interesting designs and no colours. I saw the name of marshydro. I'm not looking for a hobby grow room yet. I'm starting with a place to germinate my seeds. Then put them outdoors. But I'm so interested in science and where technology takes us with light development. Have a good day!

Sorry if I forgot someone building lights with top bin COB LED.

Stay away from Mars or SK, they aren't the right chips.

You're ultimately not buying a brand, you're buying a combination of parts and components. You want stuff that performs and lasts, or cheap garbage? For the value of this crop, going cheap is a fool's economy.

Vero 29
CXA3070
CXB3590
and a very few other chips are of the performance and quality level required by our profession. Why? EFFICIENCY. PAR per Watt per dollar spent.

For the very same reasons, if you can't afford top name COB LED, get 315W CMH lights. They're the next best thing to COB LED in both spectrum and efficiency and they're very reasonable by comparison. It's not the lamp; the reason these are better is due to the low frequency square wave ballast.

there are some entry level gear you can get for that price point: A51, tasty, Amare. for less then $380 + bulb maybe too.

DE hps is the next best thing to high efficiency led's(50%+)...not cmh

Only one of Johnson's lights uses CXB's...his cx8 uses cxb3590's with a meanwell.
All the rest(cx4, 6, 9) are cxA3070's on chinese driver and are years behind in tech already.

Northern grow lights is a top company for sure...
https://northerngrowlights.com/

DE HPs is back to high watts and hot temps. I was following the line of low watts, and less heat, ergo CMH. I like CMH for auxiliary flower lighting.

anyways, northerngrowlight's looks good, seem like pretty much a well finished DYI, and the prices are reasonable considering.

we need an al la carte style light.

1.pick form factor, bar, square, rectangle, disco ball whatever.
2. pick your cobbs (variable to the form factor you picked)
3. pick your divers from the three top best
4.pick your heat sink style fan, or passive.
5. pick your reflectors, if any.

assembly costs, and shipping...TADA!!!

It looks tacky to bash on your competition. Besides, doesn't his Maximizer also use CXB3590? I'm not sure, but I thought it did...

Come on, we're all pros here, let's try and act like it. It does no one any good to bicker amongst yourselves instead of working to build the industry.

I have kept my mouth shut for a long time, and I didn't bash anything...just said what they are using. Those are facts.
The cx8 is what makes popel think all johnsons are top notch. That is just not true, and shitty marketing/recommending by people.I am sick of people recommending second rate products when they are hyping cobs that they have never used. Facts are fact...and I don't see you or anyone going out and seeking cxA's...and thta is what 3/4 of his lights use.
It's not bashing or anything negative(your the one who took me saying they use old chips as a negative...I just said facts. I like to help people know what they are actually getting...which is the whole premise of the DIY movement.
I said his cx8 is fine...and it is.
The rest are shit by comparison...and I don't need an uneducated thinking they are getting something they are not based on what he pushes in advertising and conversation...all the while leaving out that the rest of his lights use cxA's.

So show me a maximizer...that is available right now. Anyone used one? No cause it's not n the market yet.

And that is my point...so your recommendations are based off something that isn't even out.

his cx4, 6, and 9 are the exact same as Go Green, even driver...but go gree at least use cxB's.
