Given an area of 4x4 with 1000w HPS vs 600w of COB, you will produce roughly the same. How is that not a win? I know I ran 1000w HPS in 10sq ft and achieve 610g. With the same strain (3rd gen clone, 1000w run was done with 2nd gen clone), I was able to achieve 488g with 400w of COB (CXB3070) lighting in the same area, same environment, same plant. I know without a doubt in my mind that if I added 200w more to the room for 600w of COB that I would have equaled or surpassed a 1000w HID. That alone is a win. 600w vs. 1000w for the same yield? You are stupid not to believe in it......
Im confused. You got 610 grams from a 1000 watter? Which isn't great strain depending i guess. Because you could of got close to 900 grams off that 1000 watter again strain dependent. Then you call the guy stupid for questioning things.

I dont understand why people go through the extra effort of creating a scrog and have half the light hitting the fucking floor. In my budding room, light is hitting plant matter pretty much every fucking square inch. sorry had to rant on this one, whats the point of using LEDs and saving power if you are gonna waste half the light on the fucking floor.

You must be one of those guys who believes HPS should shield near 1gpw always.... Fantasy land.

Who said i didnt believe in it? I was asking a question. Again...you are making assumptions and not reading what i have written. That is stupid...

BUT its is YOU that is NOT READING the massive amounts of data in this forum. Otherwise you wouldn't ask people such dumb questions. now who is stupid ?

Again, I do not need to be sold on efficiency. I get that by the numbers they are better and I want to go LED...

But in a run I want to yield as much as I possibly can....

Anyway, a pic of the grow I mentioned above...
Not trying to be a downer, but those lights are on the older side for tech and those HID lights are gonna kill them.

"Massive amounts..."

Exactly. Who the fuck has the time to sift through all that info, which is in no way organized, to find an answer to a specific question?

And yet i did...for a long long while. Not only on this site. And when i couldnt find the answer i posted the question here....which nobody has answered still...

Instead ive been given a bunch of mathematical gibberish that claims better efficiency.

But still, nobody has posted a link to a grow (or even a claim) that shows LED producing the same yield as hps in the same conditions, even regardless of efficiency....

So i guess the answer is no...

For large scale production, HID is the way to go. These LEDs are just for hobby level growers. You can't even hang these lights high enough to produce in a warehouse/ greenhouse setting. Useless to large scale operations.

Fair enough...i heard they were in the top tier when i bought them last year.....

So my experiment doesnt mean much.

But id still like to see a side by side with better tech...

if you don't have the time to READ even when a link was given to you then WHY should anyone answer your questions?

LED's got a really long way to go still dude, I wouldn't waste more money investing in them until they offer more in terms of distance to light, footprint ,and cost to light an area. They are simply still in their infancy stages.

actually a lot of large scale grows are converting to LEDs nowadays. the only barrier is cost making it difficult for operations running on a shoe string budget or those doing fly by night grows.
Even though the lights pay for themselves.

speaking from the west coast where we have various forms of legal large scale grows.

Yoda- I have one 700 watt fixture with 2 COBs that puts out 130,000 Lux at 30". With the same meter my friends Gavita on high was 130,000 at 36". The tech is there.

I don't know a single dispensary here in Colorado doing that, actually it's the opposite here, most are upgrading to DE gavitas.....much more fit for a warehouse grow, you can hang them 15 ft up , don't know ANY led you can hang like that.

What's the footprint on that 700 watt fixture? The gavita hung correctly can put out a 6x5 footprint and yield 3pounds + per light.

no doubt DE is good technology, but I'm seeing a change occurring up in the PNW. Obviously its a cheaper investment to go with DE,

I can build a cob light to hang at ANY height you want and get the footprint that you want.
so don't brag about something which is just plain wrong.

LED lights lose intensity quickly if hung too high, sorry to tell you but price wise they are not there yet and you guys are delusional to think the "efficiency" is that big a deal, you are not getting that much more and you are paying a LOT more for initial costs, I have 5 different types of LEDs I use them to grow weed stop trying to feed people bullshit HID tech is stop top dog for commercial grows , LEDs aren't even close.
