How can you solve the problem without getting rid of the people that caused it,they won't even admit any blame. Reminds me of every other Republican scandal,they give great speeches saying we need to concentrate our efforts on fixing the problem not assessing blame,because they already know who's to blame,all they have to do is look in the mirror.

Politics won't fix anything in Flint, it never has. We the people need to concentrate on the scientific, medical and engineering communities to fix the true problem the people of Flint face today with their water. Democrat and Republican bickering won't fix this problem regardless of the fact it was at fault.

So honestly then, how bad are the numbers and outlook for Flint? I've looked into the water testing numbers done by a local University (Kettering) and I'm not sure what to make of them. Have you seen the FDA or State equivalent release numbers or an engineering solution anywhere yet?

It all depends on what part of the city your in. The old lead pipes are in the oldest parts of town. I heard that parts of Detroit still have wooden pipes for water lines and sewer lines in some areas.Snyder says they don't even know where they are,not sure I would believe anything out of his mouth at this point. He has two PR firms working for him and he appointed campaign donors and business associates to investigate who's to blame,I'm sure his name won't be on that list. They considered using the Flint river in the past and it was turned down and at the same time he was told the Flint water treatment facility wouldn't handle that volume without a major upgrade. But suddenly everything is fine switching to it. My guess is follow the money,a new supplier of water was granted the contract even tho the detroit water board offered a large discount to keep supplying water,even a lower price than the new supplier. I think Snyder was bribed to make the switch and Snyder thought he could get away with using the Flint river for a couple years till the new pipe line was completed.

Hell,I heard GM tried using it in their plants in Flint for industrial purposes and stopped because it was corroding everything it was in contact with. Why Snyder thought he could get away with making people drink it is beyond me,and he had all this info.

The water is dirty, no doubt about it. But how toxic? I've seen water tests with low lead levels at intermittent times in isolated areas. I'm assuming they have no idea where and why the lead is leaching into the drinking water nor do they have a plan to address it yet. Of the competent scientific, medical and engineering concern that is.

As for the politics, it was actually the City of Flint that made the water switch plans correct? It was the city's Emergency Manager (Synder appointee) whom fast tract their bad idea via the authority given him thru a poorly written Emergency Manager law (MI Congress) given the fact that the city had bankrupt itself correct? Seems there is a bunch of political blame to spread around Flint and the State IMHO.

So what's the appropriate response for the President, his EPA and our federal government now in your opinion. Surely dropping into Detroit for the Auto Show last month and not stopping in for a look himself is bad political optics. Or is it that he does not believe the problem is actually that bad

The flint river is too polluted and acidic to use. The water was actually eating the pipes and that's what released the lead. There is probably worse things in the water too from industrial pollution. When they switched there was a huge spike in Legionnaires disease and 10 people died,more cases than were reported in many years combined and medical professionals told the state it was the river. Scientists say the lead will continue to leach for years because of the damage and the only way to fix it is remove all the lead pipes from the system or line them. I'm sure this was all about money and the pay offs from the new supplier of water to the city,what in politics isn't about money? You don't actually believe Snyder and his cronies had the best interest of Flint when they did this or that his staff new all about the dangers but never told the Governor? The system is so broken that they don't even seem to care if everyone knows they're corrupt,they've become very good at hiding evidence and blaming their subordinates. It's gotten so bad that this may be our next president.

Or do you honestly believe all those million dollar corporate donations to the Clinton Foundation is about the pennies on the dollar going to poor children in Africa

Clearly Snyder and the Republicans did not bankrupt Flint and Detroit. Dealing with the reality of that historical failure and fallout without taking the State with it is a bit more difficult than you'd like to admit ...

I'm no fan of the of the emergency manager bullshit, but I have no other solution to the predicament Flint and Detroit have put themselves as well as our state either. Do you? These cities have taken an unparalleled fall in world history and it could not have occurred without the near century of unopposed politics, politicians and their corruption ...

It's almost unimaginable where the Democrat establishment and their politics have led us IMHO

Obama took office in 2009. GM emerged from the government backed chapter 11 reorganization after an initial filing on June 8, 2009. Looks & sounds to me that a Democrat was cleaning up another Republican mess. Remember a little company by the name of Delphi Automotive? Remember them slashing wages (by half) of its blue collar work force? That was achieved under the once again vacationing Bush and had a huge impact on the already troubled economy by itself. The bail out & economic stimulus was needed to keep the economy afloat and moving forward. Hell, even Bush pushed a couple of those through to do what he could.

This Republican / Democrat debate leads me to one question. Is there a difference anymore?
