10x CXB 3590 3500K @1400mAHow many cxb3590's do I need to cover a 4x4 flower area?
4x4' (120x120cm) = 789PPFD

My calculation gives me a PPFD of 783 with that set up. It would take two hlg 240 1400 drivers to run 10 3590's...10x CXB 3590 3500K @1400mA

This is PERFECT if you want to max your light (aka: close to 1000 PPFD for flower)
For a PPFD of 1,253 with wall/reflector losses...@DarthBlazeAnthony I use 16 to cover a 4x4 running them @50w each

What can you tell me about yield increases vs PPfD? It's my understanding that yield climbs more slowly than watts, has that been your experience? For a PPFD of 1,253 with wall/reflector losses...
Argh..you are correct 1.2x.1.2 = 1.44 sqm. Sorry ;PMy calculation gives me a PPFD of 783 with that set up. It would take two hlg 240 1400 drivers to run 10 3590's...
If budget was no worry I would look at running four hlg 120 1050's, four 3590cs each at 60% efficiency. One cob per square foot in a 4' x 4' with a PPFD of 1,007 with wall/reflector loss...
; that price difference16) CXB 3590 3500k 680$
Or
16) CXB 3070 3500K 576$
I'm not sure yet but because I only needed 8 I went with the biggest, hottest, coolest at the time... if I was looking at lighting a 4' x 8' I would definitely consider the 3070...; that price difference
I spent my $ $ on the 3590 the price is not that higher everything else costs the same
is $100 worth the extra that the 3590 offers ?
I think the draw is like half. Almost all led panels draw much less out of the wall then the advertised wattage. There is an explanation behind it but I do not recall.Just out of curiosity, did you ever happen to measure the actual power draw of your "1200W King light"?
Let me guess, 340W? Someone on another forum measured their "900W" light, turns out each of the 150x "6W" LEDs draws only 1.7W, so it's not more than your standard 3W Epistar LED, actually less per LED.
Are you sure 16 cobs is not too many to cover a 4x4 bloom space? I feel like 10 cobs would be about the right amount.16) CXB 3590 3500k 680$

4) Mean Well Drivers 300$
4) passive capable heatsinks (Heatsinks USA 5.88 profile) 280$
The bits and pieces, wire, thermal paste, screws, holders, reflectors, lenses, solder, heat shrink tubing all add up and none of that has shipping tagged on to it...
It is an amazing light but it comes with a price...
Didn't we have that yesterday already? It was 10 COBs (3590s@1400) 789 PPFD, so 12 I am guessing for about 1000 PPFD. 1200-300 PPFD as with 16 COBs...I consider overkill and not worth the investment and running costs IMHO.Are you sure 16 cobs is not too many to cover a 4x4 bloom space? Ordering 10 from kingbrite now. Thanks broski.I just yesterday read a thread by one of the pros (Supra or Realstyles) where they measured CXB3070/CXB3590 and it seemed as if both LEDs are performing almost the same when driven low/medium, say at 1400mA. Quickly going over the CREE tool, when I compare the two I see roughly 10% more lms for the CXB3590

I run 12 in a 5x5 at 50w. I originally only built it for 4x4 but it's doing pretty damn good in my 5x5. Check out my hps killer grow journal. Mine are 3000k CB 3590Ordering 10 from kingbrite now. Thanks broski.
What about CD?I know some people are gonna be on this!
