Boveda

Used them once. I pretty much did things the old fashioned way. Hung dried until I thought they would be just under 70. Jarred them and brought them down to just under 65 and threw in the Boveda 62s. Still burped and checked them daily until 62 was reached. Only burped occasionally after that.

May not have made the best use of them but they worked fine. Did not continue as I knew I could achieve the same results with only a little more diligence.

Use the search tool.

Just about every noobie and those that should know better

these silica packs ..the same as you get in vitamin bottles

keep the contents at a stable 60-65% Rh

but first you have got to get ur weed to 60-65% Rh dry

then they kick in...not before

its there that the packs screw up,

trying to get the moisture outta ur weed with just these is really dumb

These Bovedas work really well even if you have over dried ur weed

once dried simply insert the packs 2-3 into your large cookie type jar

insert 2-3 silica packs, remove the lid for an hour each day

I've recently cut into the top of my jar and inserted a cheap ass

Rh gauge of Ebay $2.00 ....with great results

I was under the impression that you need to get your rh to 62ish then add them to keep them there for a long duration. My next harvest will be one large enough to keep me in meds for 8 to 9 months....

ive previously had trouble keeping rh at 60ish for that long so i thought these might help...

Wow. I give you complete rundown of how I successfully used the product you question and then knowing this has come up dozens of times and that my response may have been first here but not necessarily the best, I suggest the search tool. And for that I am a dick? Wow again. Here, let me rephrase...

"Ever heard of a search tool you lazy-ass waster of bandwidth and other peoples time. Its been written about in dozens of posts here with succinct examples. Dumbass, entitled loser".

How's that?

Dry the shit completely them throw it in jars with a boveda pack or two. Burping is not necessary and it will hold your jars at 62.

If you smoke everything up within a couple weeks you don't really need them but I wouldn't even think of a longer term storage without a boveda pack or two.

Thats what i dont understand. You answered my post. You didnt have too. I appreciate that. Then you ended with "use the search tool." Thats the dick part.

Obviously you assumed that i didnt. Wrong. And your reply was obviously less about helping me out then it was to admonish... otherwise why bother replying at all?

Maybe if i was new here, but been here for 3 years with 1500 posts. Save comments like that for those that deserve it.

I suppose a person could dry completely and use these to rehydrate, but....

...anything that is rehydrated seems to lack its original vigour no?

Lol Not rehydrate but you don't wanna half ass your dry just cuz u have boveda packs.

Cut trim dry for 4 - 7 days then throw in jars with boveda. Seriously it's that easy.. You seem to be over thinking this

You have it all twisted around the axle. Actually, you deserved it. My iniitial suggestion was sincere, but sure, I did assume you did not search. Why, did I assume that? Because I have witnessed numerous threads here on exactly that. So now I do a search looking for only Boveda in titles and I find 47 different threads. Doh! So it is you, Richard, who needs to learn to "save comments" especially when just a "thanks" was more deserved. You're welcome.

Did you read those threads?

I scanned most of them. Couldnt find any info that wasnt available from the Boveda site.

I guess my bad for not having been more specific with my question...which is simply: who is using this product and what do you think of it?

I got your answer. Thanks again.

So to be more clear with my original question...

I am not asking for curing info and i am not asking how to use this product. I am simply asking who is using this product and what do you think of it?

Didn't read all of the responses, but I think it's mostly covered by now. Even so, Boveda packs are not to be used to dry, and not to be used to cure. They are for maintaining a desired humidity for storage. They can be used to help rehydrate overly dried bud (to a degree). They work the same way for cigars, too, fyi. They don't dry cigars out if they're too moist, they only keep them at the desired %RH or raise humidity to desired once the bud or cigar is dry enough.

Us cigar smokers use the shit out of these. :)

I use them religiously for cigar storage. They are very reliable, and come in many different humidity levels. If you are keeping your product in a sealed container like a masons jar, zip lock, or Rubbermaid container, they last a long time. If they are in a wood box (like a humidor) they will not last nearly as long, but will do the job just as well. How long they last in non-air tight containers depends on ambient humidity, and the size of container.

If you're thinking of getting a couple to try, don't hesitate. You can always get more at a local cigar shop if you don't want to order them online.

Hopefully that's more of the answer you were looking for. I've been using these for about 10 years.

When your buds are READY for jarring, add a Boveda pack in each jar. It will eliminate the need of constantly burping, it will also keep the buds from over-drying I have some in jars dating to 2012 and when I open the jar, and squeeze a bud it still have that little moisture inside and that sweet smell. It is wise to occasionally check the Boveda pack to see if it gets hard, if so, a "Google". Search will show you how to re-hydrate the pack.

It seems like the majority of people use 62% packs. Does anyone know of any benefit or draw back to using a higher RH? I have lots of 69s and 72s that i use (depending on the time of year) for my cigars. Its no big deal to go buy some 62s, but I've already got plenty of 69 and 72.
