My ideal setup for fluorescent:
4 - 4' fluorescents over 2 mommas kept under 2.5 ft tall (just for taking clones from) @ 34W ea.
2 - 24" T5's over 16 plug bubble cloner @ 18W ea.

172 watts total to keep 2 mommas alive and vegging nicely and a bubble cloner full until they go under the 1000's.

CFL's or fluoro's dont happen to be my flowering choice of light, but they keep me with gorgeous mommas and clones inexpensively and without heat issues in a room with no ventilation. I'm all about that :bigjoint:

agreed except i never used flouros before just the 8u cfls and regular spiral cfls.... WARNING: 8Us are junk and a waste of wayyyy too much money... the 125's are ok but the 250s suck ass.... blew all 4 of my 250 8u's in a matter of 2 months @ 24hr light..... they all burnt out 4 tubes(half) dont waste ur time or hard earned money... if u go with cfls , choose spirals or the 6u 125s....

I run my fluoros 24/7 too. At the price of 4' bulbs ($3.49 ea.) I change em every 6 months whether they need it or not. I've never had one burn out on me before 6 months arrive. I have thought about the larger 125's and stuff, but I think I'd get more coverage with 4 tubes @ 136W vs. a singular CFL @ 125W. Plus I got the (2) dual 4' fluorescent shop light fixtures for like $14 ea. bulbs included.

I definitely know cfls aren't bad and If used properly can take you to harvest I have 9 23watters and the heat is really low with my fan almost non existent and my plants seem to be doing dandy. I was interested in the hps hood you guys speak of. They bring the ballast built in already? So it's just plug and play? If so how much can a cheap 200w one run me? Also would like a quiet ballast I can't have that buzzing going on all day my landlord might start putting 2 and 2 together.

I got (2) new in box 1000W switchable mh/hps ballast with glass shield and vented 6" with bulb for $189 ea. out the door. The bulb is a cheapy, but it works well for me.
White Widow @ just under 6 wks of flower. Pulled over 5 zips from one 3-1/2' plant. I grow 12 of these under 2 1000W HPS in 5 gal buckets with 6" netpots.

I found a new in box sun system 150w hps built in ballast for 53$ I've always had good luck with Sun system lights. Here's the link. Or you can just Google what ever size hps you want.150 250 400 600 and 1000 are the most common wattages. Anything bigger then the 150 and your probably going to want a remote ballast and air coolable hood. If it's your first hps you might just want the 150. Simple hang, plug and grow.
