Why do we continue being slaves to society and turning ourselves into zombies?

Alot of people don't want to work...this days generation are a bunch of lazy cunts that don't want to work...or they get influenced by others...or they just want to freeload off mommy and daddy and when you try to talk some sense into them it goes into one ear and out the other

Or some dudes don't realize you hav3 to start at the bottom. ..
It has a lot to do with our economy and women now being 50% of the workforce

Lol I know cheese burgers and slurpees are tough to give up...

Big picture. .what if food factories grew our food..versus making it from lord knows what.
All I can say is fuck food factories especially factory farms, they are the biggest evil pieces of shits in the world and I wouldn't trust them with anything

I lost my keys, can you see them from your soap box?
That is not the problem.

The resources are not there.
The skill sets are not there.
Elderly could not take care of themselves.
There are a bajillion reasons people could not just all of a sudden"live off the land"

Did I mention that the resources are not there?

Industrialization, the Green revolution... I've read the story and I'm here to tell you that sustainable home based food production is as close as our growroom.

Right now, I'm working on the necessary technologies to drastically reduce the input costs, so that it can be affordable for people to grow/raise at least some of their own food. I'm not alone; this forum and dozens like it are full of thousands of people doing the same thing.

The promise of industrialization was all about scale; make it big so everyone can have some. That's run its course and now technology has put the means of production into the hands of us, the consumer... aka, We the People.

Think of it as mass customization of the food production chain.

That is a lot different than living off the land, what ever that means.
Right now equipment and electricity would be too cost prohibitive.
I know two people that live in a 600 square foot apartment. They do not have the space to grow a fern, much less food.

Doing a shitty 9 - 5 job,
Studying shitty education 9 - 9 (12 hours yes not kidding) when you can study at home and learn using the internet and teach yourself things
And turn ourselves into zombies rather than having flexible hours?
We can all be inventors instead of working a shitty job making someone else's dream come true while yours crumbles.
I agree working a steady 9-5 sucks. But if everyone was an inventor there would still be people working for somebody to mass produce the invention.

I prefer milk crates..

The young are...and should take care of the elderly. .plus my 82 yr old grandma still gardens on a large scale. .bakes bread..buns..cans lots of preserves.
If we put more resources into natural living we'd have the skills. .we just enjoy luxury items way to much. Who wants to give up chips and delicious junk food..not me..but it can be done.

It's the fucking potato chips that are killing us before our time. Fresh veggies from your own little grow zone- easily integrated into one's home, btw- could easily replace junk food in bags. Healthy eating, less weight gain, less type two diabetes... the only losers are Frito lay and Pepsi.

The modern technology we're pioneering here on RIU and elsewhere for indoor growing could easily develop into a partial food source for a family.

So we all just wander around and forage?
People in urban centers pick dandelions out of the cracks in the cement?
I'm not sure what you mean by "live off the land."

With out electricity, one would need around an acre of land per person. Yeah, there are 1/10 of an acre gardens that produce shit tons of food, but those are costly and probably need electricity. Most people know nothing of growing food and have no interest in it beyond a few tomato plants.
If you are talking about foraging, that would devastate ecosystems.

I have chickens and a garden.

Maybe your intellectual level isn't sufficient enough to find things interesting so you bash others lol
Dude, calm down, not bashing, just ball busting a bit. I was just remembering your other thread where you are a self admitted troll. How are we supposed to know the difference? Wait, my intellectual level prohibits me from understanding the difference. :bigjoint:

Exactamente, it would devalue their wealth by causing inflation. Here's a fantasy scenario: suppose every man, woman in America, regardless of their current wealth, woke tmo morning with an extra $1,000,000. That is all adults. What do you think would happen? ALL ADULTS across the economic continum, dishwasher to CEO, is a million richer. Do you think, say in a month, everybody is still living like a millionaire? What about the barely rich, folks that had a couple million before the windfall?
If that happened in america people would either spend it all on hummers, their childrens education, titty bars, cocaine/meth/heroin, burn it to show off on youtube, alcohol, casinos and like health lol i love americans the culmination of the being human, sorry human being well fuck it whats the difference?!

I do the daily grind. My light at the end of the tunnel is a sweet ass pension which means I'll never have to do a fucking thing again.
Whenever you can put in a little more somewhere for retirement. If you can do 5 dollars a week - do it. Whatever you can put aside do it - Then leave it alone for retirement. I had to retire at 55 due to a car accident. Six years later I'm doing great... I was lucky and had my house paid off! I live comfortably on from a 28 yr career of teaching sp. education and art. Retirement IS great if you have something to do like grow herb.
