Problem is the government thinks the own everything. .if we started living off the land...it would all change..we depend on others. .gotta watch those "food chain documentaries " we allow ourselves to be controlled. ..we depend on money to buy stuff we can easily grow or make...everything else is want..not need.
What's the documentary called?

Food chains...it was about Florida and the "Publix " chain...they pay their pickers 1 cent per pound of produce..average workers wage annually is not more than 13000$ ...honestly netflix has a bunch..but knowing how little workers make just makes me sick...immigrants or not no person should be poor if they work full time!!

300 million Americans "living off the land" is just not feasible for a lot of reasons.

No, the problem is that those who own everything think they should own government, too.

We the People are the only ones who can disabuse them of such notions.

Industrialization, the Green revolution... I've read the story and I'm here to tell you that sustainable home based food production is as close as our growroom.

Right now, I'm working on the necessary technologies to drastically reduce the input costs, so that it can be affordable for people to grow/raise at least some of their own food. I'm not alone; this forum and dozens like it are full of thousands of people doing the same thing.

The promise of industrialization was all about scale; make it big so everyone can have some. That's run its course and now technology has put the means of production into the hands of us, the consumer... aka, We the People.

Think of it as mass customization of the food production chain.

That's the future for food production. Insect based protein and Lab Meat with pills to top up on vitamins and minerals.

Probably be a lot healthier than the hormone boosted carcass we all (not all, but let it slide) dine on day to day.

Veggies will probably get harder to produce due to climate changes and/or contaminated soil Etc.

I'll miss MacDonalds after the Apocalypse....

Are you fucking kidding me?! Goddammit, go look in your growroom! If you can't grow veggies in there, then I'll bet your weed isn't worth a shit, either.

Of course I know better than to say your growing skills are lacking, but it's time to take the blinders off; growing great vegetables is easy. Chickens don't need acreage, just a few dozen square feet. A bigger tank would provide water for aquaponics, just put fish in it... and voila! Another protein source that isn't ground up maggots or some such. Ducks could live on the pond and contribute as well, and they're great for keeping larger insects under control.

The opportunities for personal food production are literally growing every day. We're all learning how to do it more efficiently, so by all means let's have a little faith in ourselves!

Actually, fair point. I retract my ill thought out veggie statement.

Vegetable production will be fine. Probably be controlled by the multinationals, but it will thrive and become the food of the elite.
The rest of us will eat cockroach burgers and sawdust salad.
